MEQUON, WI<\/strong> – The Kalamazoo Growlers came into Mequon, Wisconsin, having won two of two at home versus the Green Bay Bullfrogs. The Lakeshore Chinooks on the other hand dropped its previous game to the Rockford Rivets, 9-5.\n<\/p>\n\n\tLakeshore plated the first run on the ballgame in the bottom of the third inning. Shortstop, Jack Dunn (Northwestern), started the inning with a leadoff walk and a stolen bag. Credit Joe Duncan (Eastern Illinois) with a clutch two-out RBI single, 1-0 in favor of the hometown guys.\n<\/p>\n
\n\tMuch of the same in inning number five. After a Drake Lubin (Eastern Michigan) single and stolen base, Joe Duncan would come through with his second two-out RBI single on the evening to extend the Lakshore lead, 2-0.\n<\/p>\n
\n\tAfter a leadoff walk for Jeff Riedel (Ball State) and a Mitch Bigras (Boston College) single, Ryan Orr (San Diego State) would successfully put down a sacrifice-bunt to advance both baserunners. Riedel would come around to score the first run for Kzoo after a wild throw out of the hand of reliever, Josh Serio (UW-Milwaukee), 2-1 Chinooks. Lakeshore wouldn’t look back from there.\n<\/p>\n
\n\tThe Growlers stranded twelve baserunners on the ballgame.\n<\/p>\n
\n\tPlusses on the night, Daniel Ritcheson (San Diego State) went five strong, allowing two earned runs on five hits, while punching out four in the process.\n<\/p>\n
\n\tConnor Hollis (Houston) extended his on-base streak to 25 games and his hitting streak to 15 games.\n<\/p>\n
\n\tLakeshore starter Austin Havekost (Kent State) went six innings, allowing only two hits, no earned, with five strikeouts.\n<\/p>\n
\n\tKalamazoo now sits at 8-8 in the second half of the 2017 Northwoods League standings, three back of the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters. The Growlers will try again tomorrow night. First pitch is set for 6:35 CT, that’s 7:35 ET.\n<\/p>\n
