KALAMAZOO, MI – Despite late comeback efforts, the Kalamazoo Growlers drop their third straight game to the Fond du Lac Dock Spiders 6-5.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Growlers were down 6-2 going into the bottom of the seventh inning and rallied back within one. It all started with a Jordan Bowersox leadoff double followed by a Sam Hall single. Jared Miller then drove in Bowersox on a double off the left field wall. Niko Kavadas then hit a two-run single on an error, scoring both Hall and Miller. <\/span><\/p>\n

The rally fell short in the eighth and ninth when Kalamazoo went six up, six down. <\/span><\/p>\n

After falling down 2-0 in the first three innings Fond du Lac scored six unanswered runs. They scored two in the fifth on a Cole Zabowski single to left field, and a Jeff Burch balk. <\/span><\/p>\n

The first six batters in the Dock Spiders lineup reached base safely in the sixth inning. The Dock Spiders picked up RBI\u2019s from Alex Erro, Sam Cohen, and Jack Wassel, extending the score to 6-2.<\/span><\/p>\n

Sam Weather started the night for the Growlers going three solid innings with four strikeouts giving up only three hits. Weatherly escaped two bases-loaded jams surrendering no runs. <\/span><\/p>\n

Luke Boyd came in at relief in the fourth inning. He gave up two runs, both were unearned. Jeff Burch then came in to throw 1.1 innings allowing five hits and four runs. Utility player, Jason Sullivan, shifted from second base to pitcher. He threw 1 inning allowing only one hit and no runs. <\/span><\/p>\n

The Dock Spiders starting pitcher, Jacob Kostyshock, went five innings getting the win. He had two strikeouts and gave up two runs. <\/span><\/p>\n

With the defeat Kalamazoo has now lost three straight games, the first time they\u2019ve lost three in a row all season. <\/span><\/p>\n

The Growlers will be back in action tomorrow at Homer Stryker Field for a doubleheader against the Rockford Rivets as they try to get back on the winning track.<\/span><\/p>\n
