Austin Laurencig started on the mound for the Growlers and pitched 5.2 innings, allowed eight hits, and three earned runs to eventually earn the loss.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">The Growlers quickly retired the first three Woodchucks batters, and despite a walk from Jason Sullivan and hit by Sam Crail in the bottom of the first inning, the Growlers stranded both runners on base early on.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">The Woodchucks scored first in the second inning when Alex Toral hit a solo home run to put them on the board. Despite a back and forth of hits from both teams, the Woodchucks kept their lead until the bottom of the fifth inning when a sacrifice ball by Jason Sullivan allowed Zach Daniels to score the first and only run for the Growlers.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">Two more runs were scored by the Woodchucks in the sixth inning followed by two more in the seventh. Growlers continued to leave runners on base, which ended up costing them the game. A late rally in the ninth inning led by a double from Dylan Shockley proved to not be enough, and the Growlers fell 6-1 over the Woodchucks.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">We return to Homer Stryker Field on August 1<sup>st<\/sup>\u00a0for a doubleheader with the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters before heading on the road.<\/p>\n<p>###<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><em>The Kalamazoo Growlers are a member of the finest developmental league for elite college baseball players, the Northwoods League.
