Growlers rebound with 4-2 victory over the Rockford Rivets<\/b><\/p>\n

A needed victory for Kalamazoo after dropping a game against Battle Creek<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

Rockford, Ill — After the Kalamazoo Growlers had their five game win streak broken on Thursday, they respond with a 4-2 win over the Rockford Rivets.<\/span><\/p>\n

The bats got rolling in the first, as <\/span>Jimmy Sullivan<\/b> (UVA) hit a leadoff double to start the ballgame. He later came around to score on the first RBI of the summer for <\/span>Dakota Kotowski<\/b> (Missouri State). <\/span><\/p>\n

The Growlers added two more in the third inning on an RBI single from <\/span>Anthony Cocco<\/b> (Grand Valley State), bringing home <\/span>Shea Kramer<\/b> (Utah). <\/span>Fox Leum<\/b> (North Iowa Area CC) also scored on a wild pitch from starter Kasey Ford. <\/span><\/p>\n

Another run was added in the fourth on an RBI walk from <\/span>Clay Owens<\/b> (USC). <\/span><\/p>\n

The Rivets did not get on the board until the fifth when Blake Burrows (KSU) walked and scored on a double from Jeff Heinrich (South Carolina). The future Gamecock then scored on a single from Matt Higgins (Bellarmine).<\/span><\/p>\n

The bullpen continued to be solid, as <\/span>Alex McCutcheon<\/b> (Huntington), <\/span>Eamon Horwedel<\/b> (Ohio), and <\/span>Will Mullen<\/b> (WMU) combined for two hits, no runs, two walks and seven strikeouts. McCutcheon earned the win, while Mullen picked up his second save. <\/span><\/p>\n

Kalamazoo looks to sweep Rockford for the second time at 6:35 p.m. CT on Saturday at Rivets Stadium. <\/span><\/p>\n
