Growlers surrender to Pit Spitters after short rain delay<\/b><\/p>\n

Kalamazoo gives up 20 hits in the 11-1 loss<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

It was a rough night for the Kalamazoo Growlers as the Traverse City Pit Spitters scored 11 runs on 20 hits against the KZoo bullpen.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Pit Spitters scored four runs in the bottom of the first on five hits. Hudson Byorick (Wofford) hit a leadoff double, while Mario Camilletti (Oakland) followed that up with a single. Two batters later, Andrew Morrow (Michigan St.) doubled, scoring Byorick. A single and a pair of errors by the Growlers added three more runs for Traverse City.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Growlers responded with a run of their only run in the top of the second, as <\/span>Gabe Rivera<\/b> (Miami (FL)) hit an infield single. <\/span>Hunter Thorn<\/b> (Purdue NW) provided another base knock to move Rivera to second. Kalamazoo then had two consecutive groundouts, including one for an RBI by <\/span>Jimmy Sullivan<\/b> (UVA).<\/span><\/p>\n

Kalamazoo would not get another baserunner until the sixth inning when <\/span>Shea Kramer<\/b> (Utah) was walked by Traverse City\u2019s starter Andrew Hoffman (Oakland). The team would register another hit until they had a pair in the ninth by<\/span> Drew Blakely <\/b>(UVA) and Rivera. <\/span><\/p>\n

Michael Paredes<\/b> (0-1, SDSU) was given the loss after throwing 3.2 innings, giving up 13 hits, seven earned runs and five strikeouts. <\/span><\/p>\n

Hoffman (3-0) was credited with his third win in as many starts, surrendering just two hits, one earned run, three walks and nine strikeouts.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Growlers return to action tomorrow at 7:05 p.m. against Traverse City at Pit Spitter Park. Adam Wheaton is slated to start for Kalamazoo.<\/span><\/p>\n
