KZoo offense rolls but not enough to overcome Kenosha<\/strong><\/p>\n

Growlers put up double digits hits against the Kingfish<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

The Kalamazoo Growlers lose the first game of a two game series versus the Kenosha Kingfish, 12-7. <\/span><\/p>\n

The Growlers struck first in the first inning, after <\/span>Miko Rodriguez<\/b> (Texas A&M) hit a leadoff double and scored on a wild pitch. <\/span>Rudy Maxwell <\/b>(Duke) earned his first RBI in his first game in a Growlers uniform, scoring <\/span>Drew Blakely<\/b> (UVA).<\/span><\/p>\n

Kenosha responded in the top of the second with three runs on three singles and a pair of walk off of Kalamazoo\u2019s starter, <\/span>Brennan Cox <\/b>(Wayne State). Growlers tied the ballgame in the bottom of the inning, as <\/span>Jimmy Sullivan<\/b> (UVA) scored on a throwing error by Brian Vance (St. Josephs) due to <\/span>Austin Knight <\/b>(Tennessee) stealing second base.<\/span><\/p>\n

From then on, Kenosha did not relinquish the lead for the rest of the ballgame. The Kingfish added four runs in the fourth, two in the seventh, and two in the ninth. <\/span><\/p>\n

Kalamazoo scored two in the fourth as Knight scored on a wild pitch from Tanner Fallon (Loras College) and then on an RBI single from <\/span>Zach Gelof <\/b>(UVA), scoring Rodriguez.<\/span><\/p>\n

The other two runs were scored in the seventh, both scored on an two-RBI single from Sullivan, bringing home Gelof and <\/span>Clay Owens<\/b> (USC). <\/span><\/p>\n

Fallon (3-1) earned the win for Kenosha, while <\/span>Ralph Gambino (0-2, <\/b>Penn State) was credited with the loss.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Growlers return to action against the Kingfish tomorrow at 7:05 p.m. from Homer Stryker Field.<\/span><\/p>\n
