Kalamazoo, MI — <\/span><\/i>Trailing 2-0 entering the bottom of the sixth, the Kalamazoo Growlers (11-12) plate three straight runs in the bottom of the sixth and eighth innings to complete a 3-2 comeback victory over the visiting Kenosha Kingfish (8-15) from Homer Stryker Field Wednesday evening. The Growlers split the two-game series with Kenosha. <\/span><\/p>\n The Kingfish struck first in the second inning on a RBI single from <\/span>Zachary Nogalski <\/b>to give the visitors an early 1-0 advantage. Kenosha added an insurance run in the sixth as <\/span>Mitchell Buban <\/b>scored on a stolen base to stretch the margin to 2-0. <\/span><\/p>\n In the ensuing frame, Kalamazoo commenced its comeback trail with a clutch two-out, two-run single by <\/span>Rudy Maxwell <\/b>(Duke) to knot the score at 2-2. The Growlers soon grabbed their first and only lead of the contest in the eighth on a <\/span>Gabe Rivera <\/b>(Univ. of Miami) RBI single to give Kalamazoo a 3-2 edge. <\/span><\/p>\n Kalamazoo\u2019s pitching staff was stellar once again, allowing no earned runs through the entirety of the ballgame in the combined effort of starter <\/span>Michael Paredes <\/b>(San Diego State), along with relievers <\/span>DJ Moore <\/b>(Huntington Univ.) and <\/span>Eamon Horwedel <\/b>(Ohio University). Paredes allowed just three hits with a season-high eight strikeouts. Moore earned his second win of the season, while Horwedel secured his third save. <\/span><\/p>\n The Kalamazoo Growlers remain at home tomorrow evening, opening up a two-game series versus the first-place Kokomo Jackrabbits.
