Seven hits help get six runs in for Piechocki\u2019s club<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

Kalamazoo, Mich., — <\/span><\/i>The Kalamazoo Growlers took down the Kalamazoo Mac Daddies 6-4 in an Independence Day showdown. The win comes after two straight losses to the Battle Creek Bombers.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Growlers came out hot scoring three runs in the top of the first.<\/span> Garrett Schultz (Xavier) <\/b>walked and advanced on a single by<\/span> Carson Greene (Stanford)<\/b>. Greene\u2019s Cardinal teammate, <\/span>Brett Barrera<\/b>,\u00a0 drove home Schultz in the next at-bat on a single to put the Growlers up 1-0. Greene and Barrera scored on a double in the left-center gap by <\/span>Luke Stephenson (Xavier)<\/b>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The Mac and Cheese also came out bubbling as <\/span>Anthony Calarco (Northwestern)<\/b> drove in <\/span>Kyle Ashworth (Cal Poly)<\/b> on a single. Two batters later, <\/span>Connor McGuire (UC-Irvine)<\/b> knocked the first home run in Mac Daddies history to score <\/span>Garrett Navarra (CMU)<\/b> and Calarco.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

More offense was added by the Growlers in the fifth, courtesy of an RBI single by Schultz and RBI groundout by Barrera. Schultz and <\/span>Will Morrison (WMU)<\/b> scored as a result.<\/span><\/p>\n

The final run was tacked on in the seventh on a ground-rule double by <\/span>Blake Dunn (WMU)<\/b> who later scored after stealing third and reaching home on a throwing error.<\/span><\/p>\n

For the Mac Daddies, <\/span>Dane Armbrustmacher (WMU)<\/b> made his debut and went two innings with as many strikeouts. On the Growlers side, <\/span>Chris Brown (Triton College)<\/b>, <\/span>Griffin Lanoue (Xavier)<\/b>, and <\/span>Andre Orselli (Ball State) <\/b>all had two strikeouts in one inning pitched.<\/span><\/p>\n

Aaron Hubbell (Belmont)<\/b> was given the win after two innings, allowing one hit and striking out one, while <\/span>Sean Allison (KVCC)<\/b> was credited with the loss. <\/span>Adam Wheaton (Trine)<\/b> recorded his first save with a walk and strikeout in one inning pitched.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Kalamazoo Growlers now have three days off while the Mac Daddies return to action tomorrow against the Battle Creek Bombers. First pitch is set for 1:05 p.m.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
