The pitching staff holds Battle Creek to just 3 hits<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

Kalamazoo, Mich., — <\/span><\/i>The Kalamazoo Growlers shutout the Battle Creek Bombers 5-0 for the team\u2019s first win against its I-94 rival.<\/span><\/p>\n

Luke Scoles (Central Michigan University)<\/b> collected his second win this summer after sitting down six straight in two innings with four strikeouts. Ryan Vogt (Southeast Missouri State University) lost the decision after giving up four earned runs over 3.1 innings.<\/span><\/p>\n

The offense came out of the gate hot as <\/span>Blake Dunn (Western Michigan University)<\/b> led the game with a single and a stolen base. <\/span>Brett Barrera (Stanford University)<\/b> also knocked a base hit to put runners on the corners for <\/span>Shea Kramer (University of Utah)<\/b> to hit a sacrifice fly to bring in Dunn. <\/span>Luke Stephenson (Xavier University)<\/b> notched his third RBI of the summer two batters later to score Barrera.<\/span><\/p>\n

Kalamazoo added two more runs in the fourth inning, as Dunn drove in <\/span>Carson Greene (Stanford University)<\/b> and his <\/span>WMU teammate, Will Morrison<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n

The fifth and final run came in the eighth as Stephenson drove in Barrera and reached on an error. In the top half of the inning,<\/span> Chandler Schultz (Belmont University)<\/b> capped off his second outing with three straight groundouts.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Kalamazoo Growlers return to action tomorrow against the Kalamazoo Mac Daddies for a 6:35 p.m. first pitch.<\/span><\/p>\n
