Kalamazoo, MI- The Growlers and MacDaddies battled squared off in their first matchups of the new five-inning doubleheader format, with the MacDaddies taking the game one win and rallying from two runs down in the bottom of the fifth of game two to end it in a draw.<\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n Ahead of game one, it was a catchers duel in the pregame home run derby, with <\/span>Jaekob Sallee (Hillsdale College)<\/b> getting the best of <\/span>Luke Stephenson (Xavier University)<\/b> by a score of 4-3.<\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n The MacDaddies struck first in game one, taking the lead when <\/span>Garrett Navarra (Central Michigan University) <\/b>came around to score on a wild pitch.<\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n The Growlers managed to tie up the game with their final at-bats in the top of the fifth, when <\/span>Brett Barrera (Stanford University) <\/b>launched a sacrifice fly to score <\/span>Ben Chosid (Kalamazoo College).\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n <\/p>\n In their last chance to take game one, the MacDaddies walked it off when <\/span>Kyle Nott (Central Michigan University) <\/b>came home to score courtesy of a sacrifice fly off the bat of <\/span>Patrick Ardnt (Bellarmine University).\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n <\/p>\n Ahead of game two, it was a duel of utility fielders <\/span>Jake Topolski (Duke University) <\/b>for the Growlers and <\/span>Chase Coselman (Kalamazoo College) <\/b>for the MacDaddies, with each player blasting six homers.<\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n The MacDaddies jumped out to the early lead once again in game two, with <\/span>Kyle Ashworth (California Polytechnic State University) <\/b>coming home off a wild pitch. Coselman then knocked a single to bring home Navarra, and would later come around to score himself off an <\/span>Alex Ludwick (Baldwin Wallace University) <\/b>single.<\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n The Growlers got a run back in the second when <\/span>Ben Van Cleve (University of Mississippi) <\/b>blasted his first home run of the year.
