Wednesday night in Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin the Growlers knocked off the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters to take the Great Lakes Division Championship. It took extra innings to decide the Great Lakes Division champion. It was the Growlers first baseman Casen Taggart who provided the biggest hit of the Growlers season, and maybe the biggest in Growlers history. Taggart blasted a two strike pitch over the right field fence in the top of the 10th inning to give the Growlers the 8-6 lead. Growlers pitcher Tyler Johnson sealed the game in dominant fashion in the bottom of the 10th.<\/p>\n<p>Now just one win remains between the Growlers and the first World Series win in franchise history. Kalamazoo will travel to Duluth, Minnesota to face-off against the Duluth Huskies in the Northwoods League World Series. It is a winner-take-all game which will be played Thursday night at 7:35pm eastern time. The game will be streamed on ESPN Plus.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">###<\/span><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The Kalamazoo Growlers are a member of the finest developmental league for elite college baseball players, the Northwoods League. The Northwoods League is the proven leader in the development of elite college baseball players. Now in its\u2019 29<\/span><\/i><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">th<\/span><\/i><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> season, the Northwoods League is the largest organized baseball league in the world with 22 teams, drawing significantly more fans, in a friendly ballpark experience, than any league of its kind. A valuable training ground for coaches, umpires, and front office staff, 300 Northwoods League players have advanced to Major League Baseball, including three-time All-Star and 2016 Roberto Clemente Award winner Curtis Granderson, three-time Cy Young Award winner and World Series Champion Max Scherzer (NYM), two-time World Series Champions Ben Zobrist and Brandon Crawford (SFG) and World Series Champion Chris Sale (BOS). As well as 2019 Rookie of the Year and 2019\/2021 Home Run Derby Champion Pete Alonso (NYM) and 2021 All-Star, MLB Gold Glove winner and 2019 Second Team All-MLB shortstop Marcus Semien (TEX).
