{"id":26147,"date":"2026-07-05T21:17:24","date_gmt":"2026-07-06T01:17:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/northwoodsleague.com\/kalamazoo-growlers\/?p=26147"},"modified":"2026-07-05T21:17:24","modified_gmt":"2026-07-06T01:17:24","slug":"growlers-fall-in-rain-filled-game","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/northwoodsleague.com\/kalamazoo-growlers\/growlers-fall-in-rain-filled-game\/","title":{"rendered":"Growlers Fall in Rain-Filled Game"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"fusion-fullwidth fullwidth-box fusion-builder-row-1 fusion-flex-container has-pattern-background has-mask-background nonhundred-percent-fullwidth non-hundred-percent-height-scrolling\" style=\"--awb-border-radius-top-left:0px;--awb-border-radius-top-right:0px;--awb-border-radius-bottom-right:0px;--awb-border-radius-bottom-left:0px;--awb-flex-wrap:wrap;\" ><div class=\"fusion-builder-row fusion-row fusion-flex-align-items-flex-start fusion-flex-content-wrap\" style=\"max-width:1655.68px;margin-left: calc(-4% \/ 2 );margin-right: calc(-4% \/ 2 );\"><div class=\"fusion-layout-column fusion_builder_column fusion-builder-column-0 fusion_builder_column_1_2 1_2 fusion-flex-column\" style=\"--awb-bg-size:cover;--awb-width-large:50%;--awb-margin-top-large:0px;--awb-spacing-right-large:3.84%;--awb-margin-bottom-large:20px;--awb-spacing-left-large:3.84%;--awb-width-medium:100%;--awb-order-medium:0;--awb-spacing-right-medium:1.92%;--awb-spacing-left-medium:1.92%;--awb-width-small:100%;--awb-order-small:0;--awb-spacing-right-small:1.92%;--awb-spacing-left-small:1.92%;\"><div class=\"fusion-column-wrapper fusion-column-has-shadow fusion-flex-justify-content-flex-start fusion-content-layout-column\"><div class=\"fusion-text fusion-text-1\"><p>KALAMAZOO, Mich. &#8212; The Kalamazoo Growlers (24-18, 3-3) never got going in an 11-5 loss to the Kenosha Kingfish (22-18, 1-4) Sunday afternoon.<\/p>\n<p>The Kingfish opened by scoring one run in each of the first three innings, taking a 3-0 advantage quickly.<\/p>\n<p>In the bottom of the third, the Growlers worked back within one run, as <strong>Chase Thomas\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Josh Algarin<\/strong> each earned an RBI single to end the third inning 3-2.<\/p>\n<p>To answer, Kenosha&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Owen Nowak<\/strong> hit a two-run home run and <strong>Cole Ide<\/strong> earned a bases-loaded walk, as the Kingfish took a 6-2 lead through four.<\/p>\n<p>Kalamazoo&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Nick Frontino<\/strong> opened the bottom of the fourth with a single before the rain came pouring down.<\/p>\n<p>The tarp was pulled on, but it was a long three hours and 11 minutes later that the game resumed.<\/p>\n<p>After stifling the Growlers in the resumed bottom of the fourth, the Kingfish scored three in the top of the fifth, finding a seven-run advantage through five.<\/p>\n<p>From then, both Kalamazoo and Kenosha emptied the bullpen while the Growlers outscored the Kingfish just 3-2 the remainder of the way, with the game concluding 11-5.<\/p>\n<p>The loss moves the Growlers&#8217; second-half record to 3-3 at the All-Star break, which begins Monday.
