\n\t\"Photo<\/a>KALAMAZOO, MI – On a day where Growlers bats struggled, Kenosha pitching thrived.<\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tNot even with the energetic kids in the stands for Education Day presented by Stryker could Kalamazoo get a run across as it lost its third straight by the score of 6-0.<\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tThe Kalamazoo Growlers (1-7) only managed two hits through nine innings as Kenosha (5-3) starting pitcher Andrew Zapata (UCONN)  kept a no-hitter until the bottom of the eighth.<\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tThrough 7.0 innings pitched, Zapata struck out seven while walking four. With allowing zero runs, his ERA remains at a stellar 0.00 <\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tZapata’s first hit allowed was a single by Nick Yarnall (Pittsburgh). The next Growlers’ batter, Ryan Slaughter (KVCC) hit another single to put runners on first and second. After Slaughter, Kory Brown (Michigan State) walked to load the bases with no outs.<\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tCallahan Brown (UCONN) came in for relief for Zapata and got the next three Growler hitters to go down in order to escape the bases-loaded jam.<\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tGrowlers’ starting pitcher Shane Bryant (Purdue) struggled through the first two innings, allowing all six runs off of six hits during that span. After the second inning, though, Bryant settled in and lasted until the seventh striking out a total of six Kingfish.<\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tYarnall and Slaughter were the top offensive performers for the struggling Kalamazoo Growlers as they each went 1-3 with their two singles.<\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tFor Kenosha, center fielder Eric Filia (UCLA) raised his already high batting average, going 3-4 with a pair of singles and a double.<\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tThis loss ends the first homestand for Kalamazoo as it travels to Wausau to play to Woodchucks who currently sit at 3-2. <\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n
