{"id":613,"date":"2013-11-02T16:14:26","date_gmt":"2013-11-02T16:14:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/northwoodsleague.com\/kalamazoo-franchise\/?p=613"},"modified":"2013-11-02T16:14:26","modified_gmt":"2013-11-02T16:14:26","slug":"northwoods-league-to-expand-to-kalamazoo-in-2014","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/northwoodsleague.com\/kalamazoo-growlers\/northwoods-league-to-expand-to-kalamazoo-in-2014\/","title":{"rendered":"Northwoods League to Expand to Kalamazoo in 2014"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n\t<strong>Northwoods League to Expand to Kalamazoo in 2014<\/strong>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tNew expansion franchise to play at Homer Stryker Field\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tOne June 3rd, 2013 the Kalamazoo City Commission unanimously approved an agreement with the Northwoods League for a five year lease beginning in January of 2014.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tThe new team will be the league&#39;s second team in Michigan as the Bombers currently play at C.O. Brown Stadium in Battle Creek.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tThe team will play its&#39; games at Homer Stryker Field. The ballpark has not hosted a team since the Kalamazoo Kings left after the 2011 season.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tWith the addition of Kalamazoo, the Northwoods League will have 18 teams committed for 2014. Another new expansion team in Kenosha, WI was announced earlier this past winter.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tNorthwoods League president Dick Radatz, Jr. is excited about adding a second franchise in Michigan.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t&quot;I look forward to watching baseball in Kalamazoo, with its rich baseball heritage and to know that after 20 years the Northwoods League has now become the largest league in organized baseball. The future is bright,&quot; said Radatz.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tThe Northwoods League has more teams, plays more games, and draws more fans than any other Summer Collegiate League in North America.
