\n\tTonight the Kenosha Kingfish open on the road for the inaugural 2014 season. The team travels to Wisconsin Rapids to take on the Rafters. The <\/span>game will begin at 7:05 p.m. (CT).  For all the firsts of the seasons, stayed tuned as we will be updating the game as the action happens. <\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tOn the mound tonight is Rico Garcia, a 5'11" 180 pound righty from Kapoelia, Hawaii. Garcia started 11 games during his sophomore season with Hawaii Pacific University and went 4-1 with a 2.68 ERA. He struck out 74 batters while only walking 25 in 84 innings of work.<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tAnd we're off! First pitch strike taken by DH Kyle Brooks. Brooks reaches first on an infield hit off the second pitch, recording the first hit for the Kingfish! Brooks also scores the first run in Kingfish history on a sacrifice groundout!<\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tGarcia records a first pitch strike, but the leadoff man for the Rafters reachs first on a dropped third strike. Outfielder Taylor Douglas records the first out for Kenosha, catching a flyout to right field. <\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tAfter the first inning, Kenosha leads 1-0. <\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tBrooks singles in the top of the second inning to score Kyle Sissler, recording his second hit of the season. The Kingfish lead 2-0 after two innings of play. <\/span><\/span>Zach Radcliffe homers in the top of the 3rd, scoring Douglas to make it 4-0. <\/span>Jordan Romero records his first RBI on a groundout to score Caleb Howell later in the third. <\/span>After three innings of play, the Kingfish lead 5-0.<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tWith the bases loaded, Romero records his second RBI of the night after getting hit by a pitch in the top of the 5th. Score is now 6-0. <\/span><\/span><\/span>Rafters pitcher Logan Grant hits two batters in a row after Romero, scoring two runs. Sissler singled earlier, making the score now 9-0. Specer Gaa with an RBI groundout to score Sissler to make it 10-0.<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tGarcia retires 15 batters in a row before giving up a hit in the bottom of the 6th inning. Garcia continues shutout through 6 innings. <\/span><\/span><\/span>Taylor Douglas and Caleb Howell both score in top of the 7th to go up 14-0.<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tRico Garcia replaced by Zach Morgenstern in the 7th. Garcia pitched a gem, finishing with five strikeouts, one walk and gave up two hits in six innings of work. <\/span><\/span><\/span>After seven innings of play, the Kingfish lead 14-0. <\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tRafters pitcher Scott Williams retires the side in the top of the 8th. Trevor Hass replaces Zach Morgenstern for Kenosha. Rafters threaten late in the inning with a man on 3rd and two outs, but Kingfish defense stays solid to uphold the shutout. 14-0 going into the 9th. <\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tKingfish bats lighten, fail to score in first half of the 9th. Morgenstern replaced by J.D. Nielson. Nielson retires the side. And that's that folks. Kingfish shutout the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters to win 14-0 and get first win of their inaugural 2014 season. Rico Garcia and the Kingfish move to 1-0 on the season, while Rafters pitcher John Cook and the Wisconsin Rapids fall to 0-1. <\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n
