\n\tKenosha, Wis. – After coming back from a 0-2 series start against the Wisconsin Woodchucks, the Kingfish climbed back last night and won both games in the doubleheader to split the series 2-2. Their record is now 5-3 and sit one game back from the lead in the number four spot.  The third place La Crosse Loggers are set to battle the Kingfish tonight as the race for first is in reach.<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tThe Kingfish have the consistent Rico Garcia on the mound tonight. Garcia is 3-2 on the year, a 1.85 ERA and has tallied the most innings pitched from the Kingfish bullpen. He leads the team with 34 strikeouts and is third in the league.  This won’t be the first time Garcia has handled the Loggers. He faced them in the first series, pitching six innings with seven strikeouts and only two runs given up but received the lost after La Crosse scored two in the bottom of the eighth. His last outing was his normal recipe, six innings, no runs, and three strikeouts for the win.<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tIn both of yesterday’s games, Duffy Dyer’s team showed their ability to produce runs.  The Kingfish won in the first game with a walk off as Buddy Reed was able to reach home on a Woodchucks error.  Reed has had hits in his last three games. Pat Porter hit his eighth home run of the year and in the two games combined, hit for a cycle. The second half has bode well for the Kingfish so far and look to keep it going this evening.  \n<\/p>\n

\n\tThursday, July 9th<\/sup> will mark the end of the home stand and will be Host Family Appreciation Night.  The Loggers and Kingfish face off at 7:05 p.m.  The Kingfish are on the road for the next three series and return on Thursday, July 17th<\/sup>.\n<\/p>\n
