\n\tHitting Coach Brian Dyer Also Returning<\/em>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tKenosha, Wis. – Kenosha legend and 3-year Kingfish Field Manager, Duffy Dyer, will return to Kenosha for his fourth season with the Kingfish. Dyer has a career record of 119-100 in Kenosha.\n<\/p>\n

\n\tDyer appreciates the fan support and is eager to compete at Simmons Field this summer, “I’m very excited to be returning for my 4th season with the Kingfish. Kenosha fans have treated us great, Big Top Baseball has treated us great and I’m ready for the season to start.  I wish opening day was tomorrow.”\n<\/p>\n

\n\tIn the Kingfish inaugural season, Dyer lead the Kingfish to a 41-30 overall record, finishing just a half-game out of the playoffs. In just the second year in franchise history, Dyer lead the 2015 Kingfish to a NWL Championship. Dyer also managed the South Division in the 2015 Northwoods League All-Star Game and was named the Northwoods League Manager of the Year. The 2016 season featured NWL Home Run Derby Champion and Kingfish stand out infielder, Marty Bechina.  \n<\/p>\n

\n\t“I’m optimistic about this upcoming year,” said Dyer.  “Every season's beginning is different because we haven’t met all the players and we’re simply watching their stats, but I’m very optimistic.  The ownership group puts together great teams and all I ask is for our players to hustle and put out their best effort and we will be very competitive."\n<\/p>\n

\n\tAlso returning to the Kingfish in 2017 is Duffy Dyer’s son, Brian Dyer, who has been the team’s Hitting Coach since 2014. Both Duffy and Brian Dyer reside in Phoenix, AZ.\n<\/p>\n

\n\tPrior to his managerial experience with the Kenosha Kingfish, Duffy Dyer was selected 9th<\/sup> overall by the New York Mets in the 1966 amateur draft. He played in over 14 seasons in the major leagues with the New York Mets, Pittsburgh Pirates, Montreal Expos and Detroit Tigers. Dyer made his major league debut in 1968 and was a member of the Miracle Mets team that won the World Series in 1969. \n<\/p>\n

\n\tAfter retiring as a player, Dyer was back in baseball in 1983 as the bullpen coach for the Chicago Cubs. Dyer went on to manage the Class-A Midwest League Kenosha Twins from 1984 until 1985 at Simmons Field. He led the team to a Midwest League Championship in 1985 and was named Manager of the Year. Dyer won a Texas League Championship the following year as the manager of Milwaukee Brewers affiliate, El-Paso Diablos. Dyer then served as the Milwaukee Brewers’ Third Base Coach from 1989 to 1995. Following his tenure with the Brewers, Dyer served as the Bench Coach for the Oakland Athletics and worked alongside Art Howe from 1996 to 1999.\n<\/p>\n
