\n\tThe Kenosha Kingfish (6-3) defeated the Battle Creek Bombers (7-2) 6-5 on Wednesday with a walk-off single in the ninth inning by center fielder Connor Doyle (San Diego). The Kingfish, who trailed by as many as four runs in the game, extend their win streak to three games, tied for their longest streak of the season.\n<\/p>\n
\n\tThe Bombers touched up left-handed starter Davis Schwab on-and-off throughout the early parts of this game, but took until the fourth inning to finally get a run across. After stranding six baserunners in the first three innings on four hits and two walks, Battle Creek strung together four singles in five batters to start the fourth, all four of whom came around to score by the time the sixth batter of the inning lifted a sacrifice fly to center.\n<\/p>\n
\n\tKenosha did its best to respond as quickly as possible, getting its first baserunner of the game on a leadoff walk to right fielder Jack Yalowitz (Illinois) to start the fourth. Designated hitter Tyler Paulsen (Illinois State) walked three batters later, followed by back-to-back RBI singles by first baseman Derek Bangert (Bradley) and catcher Nick Zouras (Illinois State).\n<\/p>\n
\n\tThe Kingfish got another run back in the fifth when Yalowitz crushed a solo home run to right field, the first home run the Bombers had allowed in the season.\n<\/p>\n
\n\tKenosha saved its biggest offensive explosion for when it needed it most. Following a solo home run in the top of the ninth, the Kingfish entered their final at-bat down 5-3. Zouras and third baseman Anthony Warneke (San Diego City) started the inning with back-to-back singles, giving the team the tying runs on base with one out. Shortstop Ben Troike (Illinois) then came up with an RBI single, his second straight game with a run-scoring hit in the team’s final at-bat.\n<\/p>\n
\n\tThe top of the order took care of the rest, as Yalowitz grounded a game-tying single down the first base line and centerfielder Doyle fought through an eight-pitch at-bat before lining the game-winning hit up the middle.\n<\/p>\n
\n\tGary Clift Jr. (Youngstown State) was big in relief for the Kingfish on Wednesday, pitching 3.1 scoreless innings with just two hits allowed and three strikeouts. Zach Stromberg picked up the win with one run allowed on one hit and two strikeouts.\n<\/p>\n
\n\tYalowitz went 2-for-4 in the game with a homer and two RBI’s, his fourth straight multi-hit game. Doyle went 2-for-4 with an RBI, and Zouras went 2-for-4.\n<\/p>\n
