\n\tKENOSHA, Wis. – The Lakeshore Chinooks (10-12) defeated the Kenosha Kingfish (13-9) at Historic Simmons Field 3-2 to complete a sweep of the home-and-home doubleheader between the two teams on Tuesday. Earlier in the day, the Chinooks won a 4-3 game in Lakeshore.\n<\/p>\n
\n\tThe Kingfish took an early lead after back-to-back singles by first baseman Max Widmar (UW-Parkside) and catcher Cameron Comer (Virginia) to start the third inning. Second baseman Anthony Warneke (San Diego City) drove in the game’s first run with a fielder’s choice, and the Kingfish led 1-0.\n<\/p>\n
\n\tLakeshore tied the game up in the fifth inning thanks to some defensive troubles, as right fielder Caleb Dean (Lamar) singled and later advanced to third on a wild pitch. Two batters later, third baseman Rylan Thomas (Central Florida) reached on an error by shortstop Korby Batesole (Fresno State), giving the Chinooks their only run of the game off of Kingfish starter Logan Wiley (Missouri State).\n<\/p>\n
\n\tKenosha regained its lead in the sixth with a double by left fielder Jack Yalowitz (Illinois) and RBI single by third baseman Tim Millard (Dallas Baptist).\n<\/p>\n
\n\tJust as they thought they had victory in their sights, however, the Kingfish saw another set of defensive miscues cost them in the ninth. With right-hander Billy McKay (Florida) on the mound, the Chinooks worked a walk and then two more errors on one play to putting the tying run at third and the go-ahead run at second with nobody out. Thomas then put another big swing on the ball, ripping a two-run single to left and swinging the game in Lakeshore’s favor.\n<\/p>\n
\n\tBoth teams rode strong games from their starting pitchers in this one, as Wiley turned in his longest outing of the year. He threw six innings and allowed one unearned run, striking out eight and walking three while allowing seven hits.\n<\/p>\n
\n\tLakeshore starter Sam Lund (Madison College) pitched seven innings of two-run baseball, allowing six hits and no walks while fanning nine. Cole Gnetz (Miami of Ohio) earned the win with a scoreless eighth inning out of the bullpen, while Thomas worked a scoreless ninth to nail down the save.\n<\/p>\n
\n\tThe Kingfish will hit the road again on Wednesday when they travel to Rockford for a 6:35p.m. start time. The Rivets come back to Kenosha on Thursday to finish the two-game set with a 7:05p.m. start time. Thursday will also be Ben Zobrist Bobblehead Night at Historic Simmons Field.\n<\/p>\n
