th<\/sup> season as Field Manager of the Kenosha Kingfish in 2018.\u00a0 Dyer, the only manager in Kingfish history, has a career regular season record of 151- 136 with the club.<\/p>\n\u201cThe summer at Simmons Field is so beautiful and the city of Kenosha is so welcoming that returning for another season was the easiest decision in the world,\u201d said Dyer.\u00a0 \u201cThe city supports the team so well.\u00a0 The sell-out crowds and atmosphere of the ballpark make our guys excited to take the field every night.\u00a0 I\u2019m looking forward to getting back to town this season to work with the players as we take on the tough competition in the Northwoods League.\u201d<\/p>\n
Dyer is in his second stint as manager of a Kenosha team. He led the Kingfish to the 2015 Northwoods League Championship.\u00a0 However, that championship was not the first he brought to the city.\u00a0 In 1985 he led the Kenosha Twins to the Midwest League Championship.\u00a0 This gives him the unique distinction of managing a team to a championship with a professional team and a collegiate summer league team in the same city.\u00a0 In 1986, he followed his Midwest League title with a Texas League Championship as skipper of the El Paso Diablos.<\/p>\n
Dyer, the 1985 Midwest League and 2015 Northwoods League Manager of the Year, has extensive experience as both a player and coach.\u00a0 He was a member of 1965 College World Series Champion Arizona State Sun Devils. He played for the Valentine (Neb.) Hearts in the Basin League, then a top summer collegiate league and was drafted by the Milwaukee Braves in 1965 although he did not sign with the team. He was drafted again the next season, this time by the New York Mets.<\/p>\n
He quickly moved through the minor leagues on his way to eventually being a member of the New York Miracle Mets World Series Championship team in 1969.\u00a0 He also played for the Pittsburg Pirates, Montreal Expos and Detroit Tigers.\u00a0 In 1976 with the Pirates, he caught a no-hitter thrown by John Candelaria.<\/p>\n
After his playing career, Dyer spent time as a Major League coach with the Chicago Cubs, Milwaukee Brewers and Oakland A\u2019s.\u00a0 He managed the Brewers for 3 games during the 1993 season as Phil Garner served a suspension. Most recently, before taking over the Kingfish, he was catching coordinator for the San Diego Padres.<\/p>\n
