Three mainstays from the 2017 Kenosha Kingfish roster will return to the team for the 2018 Northwoods League season.\u00a0 Shortstop Ben Troike (Illinois), second baseman Mikey Madej (Purdue) and outfielder Connor Doyle (San Diego) hope to lead the Kingfish to a successful season.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m happy we have some good ballplayers I\u2019m familiar with back on the team this season.\u201d said veteran Kingfish Manager Duffy Dyer. \u201cAll three had a good year on the field in 2017 and I\u2019m excited to see how they do this year.\u201d<\/p>\n
Troike and Madej will form a Big Ten double play combination for Kenosha. Troike played in 46 games for the Kingfish last season batting .250 with 12 RBI.\u00a0 Madej, a switch hitter, led the team with 239 at bats in 64 games during the 2017 season. He hit .222 with 28 RBI.\u00a0 He ranked second on the team in home runs with 5 and 3rd<\/sup> in hits with 53.\u00a0 Both excellent base runners, Madej and Troike finished second and third on the team with 14 and 13 steals respectively.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s always nice to have some familiarity with each other in the middle infield.\u00a0 We\u2019ll be counting on these two to help us solidify our defense this season.\u201d\u00a0 Dyer added.<\/p>\n Doyle, a right-handed junior outfielder, played in 62 games with the Kingfish last season.\u00a0 He hit .253 with three home runs and 26 RBI.\u00a0\u00a0 A true speedster, Doyle led the team with 21 steals and 46 runs scored in 2017.
