Kenosha, Wis. – The Kenosha Kingfish kick off their season on Tuesday, May 29<\/span>th <\/span>at 6:35pm at home against the Battle Creek Bombers. With new players added from colleges all over the country, the Kingfish look to improve upon their 36-36 record from last season. This record was an improvement to the 26-46 record they posted in 2016. The team has added a range of talent to keep these improvements coming.<\/span><\/p>\n

New talent includes outfielder Carson McCusker (Oklahoma State), infielder Charlie Harrigan (Heartland CC) and catcher Evan McDonald (Fairleigh Dickinson).<\/span><\/p>\n

As a 6\u20198\u201d, 225 lb. sophomore, McCusker batted .303 with 33 hits and seven homeruns battling teams in the Big 12 Conference. \u00a0Harrigan hit an astounding .360 through 56 games, totaling 62 hits and 69 runs batted in. Lastly, McDonald hit .289 through 47 games while tallying 46 hits and nine homeruns over the course of the season.<\/span><\/p>\n

All these players look to bring their bats to Kenosha, and bring some more runs, and more wins, to the Kingfish.<\/span><\/p>\n

Not only did the Kingfish load the lineup, but they also added plenty of firepower to the rotation.<\/span><\/p>\n

Additions such as Trent Palmer (Jacksonville), Aaron Mutter (Winona State) and Jack Zimmerman (Kent State) are looking to keep opposing teams on the losing end.<\/span><\/p>\n

Shutting teams down out of the bullpen, Palmer had a total of 39.0 innings pitched with 42 strikeouts, making his strikeouts per nine innings over nine. Mutter was a stud in Winona State\u2019s rotation, totalling 48.2 innings pitched in ten appearances (nine starts), having an ERA of 3.51. To top it off, Zimmerman, a freshman from Kent State had a blistering ERA of 1.88 and striking out 21 batters through 14.1 innings pitched.<\/span><\/p>\n

Additions up and down the Kingfish roster give veteran Manager, Duffy Dyer, a lot to work with and promising options while batting or pitching. \u201cWe believe these kids can come in and make a difference to this team,” said Dyer. “We are all looking forward to seeing how the team will work together and bring us victories.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

The Kingfish look to bring all their offseason and collegiate work together on Tuesday, May 29<\/span>th<\/span> when they open the season with three games at Historic Simmons Field.<\/span><\/p>\n
