Kenosha, Wis. \u2013 The Kenosha Kingfish (2-0) defeated the Lakeshore Chinooks (2-1) in a pitcher\u2019s duel by the score of 1-0 on Thursday evening.<\/span><\/p>\n Colton Johnson (Illinois State) started it off for the Kingfish on the mound, pitching four innings and allowing no runs to come across for the Chinooks. Johnson was taken out for relief pitcher Keanu Mendez (Concordia St. Paul), who came in and also gave up no runs. Mendez was decided the winner after pitching the fifth and the sixth innings. <\/span><\/p>\n Next up for the Kingfish out of bullpen was Kevin Napoleon (Butler). Similar to Mendez, he pitched two innings of scoreless baseball, this time being the seventh and eighth innings for the Kingfish. To close up the wonderful pitching performance from the Kingfish staff was right handed pitcher, Josh Serio (UW Milwaukee). Serio shut the Chinooks down after letting two men get on base, on his was to a Kingfish victory and save of his own.<\/span><\/p>\n The lone scorer of the game came in the form of Devin Ortiz (Virginia), who led off the third inning off with a double. Two batters later, Mike Madej (Northwest Florida St.) reached on an infield single. But a throwing error by Chinooks shortstop Jake Thompson ended up scoring Ortiz and advancing Madej to second. <\/span><\/p>\n The game duration for the night was a brisk 2:49, showcasing pitching and defense for both teams.
