Kenosha, Wis. \u2013 The Kenosha Kingfish (4-4) fell to the Kalamazoo Growlers (5-4) by a score of 7-0 on Wednesday night.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Kingfish put five pitchers on the mound Wednesday, starting with Cale Cuddie (UW Stevens Point) and ending with Brady Kais (McHenry CC). The three pitchers in between consisted of Casey Kempner (Parkland CC), Jake Kopp (Madison College) and Zach Jones (Illinois). <\/span><\/p>\n

Relievers Kempner and Jones made their first appearances with the Kingfish.. Kempner went three innings while striking out two and allowing three runs. Jones went two innings, struck out two Growlers while not allowing any runs. <\/span><\/p>\n

The seven runs for the Growlers came on nine hits, but also nine walks given up by Kingfish pitchers. Cuddie had four walks while Kempner had three and Kopp had two. A well played game defensively for both teams, only combining for one error. \u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

For the Growlers, starting pitcher Jack Nelson (Boston College) went five innings, striking out two and allowing no runs on only two hits. Jake Miller led Kalamazoo at the plate, going 3-5 with four runs batted in. <\/span><\/p>\n

The duration of the game Wednesday night was 3:46, getting slightly colder as the sun went down and the game went on. The Kingfish look to split the series with the Growlers in the second game of the series on Thursday.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Kingfish will look for the series split tomorrow in game two. The game Thursday night at 6:35 at Historic Simmons Field.<\/span><\/p>\n
