Kenosha, Wis. \u2013 The Kenosha Kingfish (6-10) fell to the Rockford Rivets (11-5) in the first game of the series by a score of 9-1. <\/span><\/p>\n

Keanu Mendez (Concordia St. Paul) got the call tonight for the Kingfish on the mound for his third start of the 2018 season. He went 1.2 innings, giving up five runs, four hits and striking out two. He was replaced by Jack Zimmerman (Kent State) who continued his good start as a Kingfish, going 3.1 innings, allowing only one earned run and striking out seven Rivets. <\/span><\/p>\n

Trent Palmer (Jacksonville) made his first appearance as a Kingfish, pitched 1.2 innings, allowing two runs and struck out two. The final pitcher of the night was Kevin Napoleon who pitched the final 2.1 innings, allowed one unearned run in a solid performance. <\/span><\/p>\n

On the mound for the Rivets was Evan Snyder (Parkland CC) who pitched six solid innings, allowing one earned run, walking four and striking out six. The final three innings were closed out by Jimmy Burnette (Illinois) and Adrian Marquez (Wright State), who combined for no runs allowed, two hits and five strikeouts.<\/span><\/p>\n

Kingfish shortstop, Scott Dubrule (Jacksonville), made his debut along with collegiate teammate Trent Palmer, and drove in the lone run for the team tonight. Dubrule went 2-4 with one walk and one run batted in. <\/span><\/p>\n

Tomorrow, June 14th, the Kingfish travel to Rockford to finish the two game series with the probable being Colton Johnson (Illinois State).<\/span><\/p>\n

The next time the Fish host a game at Historic Simmons Field is June 23rd when they take on the Fond Du Lac Spiders. Until then the team hits a seven game road trip, facing the Rivets, Wisconsin Rapids, Battle Creek and Kalamazoo.
