Kenosha, Wis. \u2013 The Kenosha Kingfish (7-17) fall in a nail-biter against the Fond Du Lac Spiders (15-9) in the first game of the series by a score of 5-4. <\/span><\/p>\n

For the Kingfish, Kaleb Schmidt (Drury University) was the first of five pitchers on the mound. Before the start he posted a record of 0-2 and had totalled 17.1 innings pitched on the year. His night ended after 1.2 innings, allowing three runs, two of them earned, two hits and getting his third loss of the year.<\/span><\/p>\n

Jack Zimmerman (Kent State) came in for Kaleb Schmidt and pitched a solid 3.1 innings for the Fish, allowing only one run on one hit and striking out three Spiders. Garrett McGraw was next in relief, and shut down Fond Du Lac in his two innings of work, allowing no runs on one hit while striking out three.<\/span><\/p>\n

Ending the night for the Fish was Jon Ostroff (George Mason), who pitched a third of an inning, and Trent Palmer (Jacksonville) finished the last 1.2 innings, allowing only one hit and striking out five. <\/span><\/p>\n

For the Spiders, Sam Hubbe (Butler) got the call on the mound, going six innings totalling 99 pitches. After Hubbe came Ryan Connolly (Creighton), Carter Brown (Arkansas-Little Rock) and Mitch Ebben (Northwestern Ohio University). They combined for the last three innings of work, allowing one earned run and Ebben ending with the save. <\/span><\/p>\n

Leading the way at the plate for the Fish was Cade Cabbiness (Oklahoma State), going 2-4 with two runs scored, and Noah Croft (Wichita State) who went 2-4 with one homerun and two runs batted in. This was Croft\u2019s first homerun of the year. <\/span><\/p>\n

The Fish continue their homestand tomorrow in the second game of the series against the Spiders, with the first pitch set for 4:05.\u00a0 \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
