Kenosha, Wis. \u2013 The Kingfish (23-23) take down the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters (20-27) by a score of 4-0. Led by the Kingfish pitching, this victory ending the season series between this clubs at four wins a piece.<\/span><\/p>\n

Kaleb Schmidt (Drury University) was on the mound for his ninth start, and best start of the summer. He pitched an incredible seven shutout innings, allowing no runs on only two hits and striking out six. Schmidt earned his first win of the season, and lowered his overall ERA to 3.78.<\/span><\/p>\n

Only one more pitcher was needed for the Kingfish, and it was Kevin Napoleon (Butler). He continued Schmidt\u2019s great start by going two more scoreless innings, allowing no runs on only one hit and struck out two. Napoleon completed one of the best pitching performances for the Kingfish this season. <\/span><\/p>\n

The pitching for the Rafters was a different story with the Rapids sending five pitchers to the mound on Sunday. It began with Jake Cook (Birmingham Southern) who went three innings, giving up two runs on four hits and receiving his sixth loss of the year. The first in relief was Josh Winkler (Northeastern) who went 2.2 innings, giving up one run on five hits and striking out one.<\/span><\/p>\n

The last 2.1 innings of work for the Rafters were handled by Kyle Hodgson (Framingham State), Braxton Webb (Oklahoma) and Jonathan Hernandez (Chapman University). Hodgson went only 0.1, striking out one and totalling four pitches. Webb went one inning, allowing one run on one hit and Hernandez ended the night going one inning, not allowing a hit or run.<\/span><\/p>\n

Scott Dubrule (Jacksonville) stays smoking hot going 2-4 from the leadoff spot and scoring twice. Connor Doyle (San Diego) also had two hits coming in the form of two doubles. Other offensive stars from Sunday afternoon were Jack Weiller (Virginia) who went 2-4 with a double and one RBI, and Mike Madej (Northwest Florida State) who hit is 3rd double of the season and knocked in his 15th run.<\/span><\/p>\n

After the sweep of the Rafters, the Kingfish have won 11 of their past 13 games. The team has the day off on Monday before taking on the Green Bay Bullfrogs for two games at Historic Simmons Field. With this win the Fish bring their record back up to .500 at 23-23, and look to continue their climb in the South Division on Tuesday at 7:05.<\/span><\/p>\n
