Kenosha, Wis. \u2013 The Kingfish (35-31) put up 14 runs against the Madison Mallards (45-21) in the final game of their season series. By the Fish winning 14-5, they take five out of the eight games from Madison. <\/span><\/p>\n

On the bump tonight for Kenosha was Joe Vranesic (Wabash Valley) who got his eighth start and third win of the summer. He continued his impressive performance this season, by going six full innings, allowing only one run on four hits along with eight strikeouts. <\/span><\/p>\n

Only two more pitchers were needed, and they were Jack Zimmerman (Kent State) and infielder Devin Ortiz (Virginia). In Zimmerman\u2019s 13th appearance this year, he was great as usual throwing two innings, allowing only one run on one hit and striking out two. Infielder Devin Ortiz (Virginia), in his second appearance of the summer, pitched the ninth inning when the Fish were up 14-1. He allowed three runs, one earned on two hits and struck out one.<\/span><\/p>\n

Madison brought five arms to the mound, beginning with Connor Churchill (Florida) who got his first loss of the season. He went four innings, allowing five runs on six hits with four walks and three strikeouts. First in relief was Mitch Vogrin (Illinois State), who got his first appearance of the season for Madison. His outting ended after one out, in which he gave up one run and walked three. <\/span><\/p>\n

Karsten Lee (Menlo College) came in for one inning, where he allowed four runs off two hits and walked two. Tanner Rogen (Oral Roberts) and outfielder Trevor Boone (Oklahoma State) were the final pitchers for Madison. Rogen pitched 1.2 innings, allowing six runs on four hits, and in his first pitching appearance this summer, Boone threw the ninth inning, allowing no runs, no hits and striking out one.<\/span><\/p>\n

Sunday afternoon, the Kingfish offense was in full force putting 14 runs on the Mallards. Nine of those runs alone came from Marty Bechina (Michigan State) who had six RBI\u2019s and scored three times. Four of those runs came off of one swing, when he hit a grandslam in the sixth inning, his fourth homerun of the year. <\/span><\/p>\n

Scott Dubrule (Jacksonville) stayed hot today, reaching base all six times he came to the plate. His night included two singles, three walks, reaching on one error and scoring three times. Mike Madej (NW Florida State) also helped produce, going 2-4 and knocking in two runs.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Kingfish bounced back from Saturday night\u2019s loss to Madison by dropping 14 runs on them in the series finale. They look to carry this momentum into the final week of the season, starting with the Rockford Rivets on Monday, August 6th at Historic Simmons Field. Nick Long (Florida) is the probable for on Monday, first pitch at 7:05pm. <\/span><\/p>\n
