Kenosha, Wis. \u2013 The Kingfish (36-31) offense put on a show for the second game straight game, taking down the Rockford Rivets (27-39) by a score of 19-7. This output included four homeruns, three coming from catcher Evan McDonald (Fairleigh Dickinson). <\/span><\/p>\n

The starting pitcher for the Kingfish was Nick Long (Florida), who got his fifth start of the summer and his second win. His performance concluded with five innings pitched, allowing two runs, one earned, on three hits while striking out four. <\/span><\/p>\n

The first of three relief pitchers was Matt Hamilton (Madison College) who went 0.1 innings while allowing three runs. These three runs came off a double by Wyatt Mascarella (St. Johns), helped out by some confusion by the umping staff, ending in an argument and ejection of Manager Duffy Dyer. <\/span><\/p>\n

For Kenosha, the last two pitchers were Colton Gordon (Florida) and Keanu Mendez (Concordia St. Paul). Gordon went 1.1 innings, allowing one run on three hits and Mendez went the final 2.1 innings, also allowing one run on three hits.<\/span><\/p>\n

The first of three pitchers for Rockford was JT Baksha (Western Illinois). In his second start he got his second loss after going 4.1 innings, allowing eight earned runs on 11 hits. Hunter Keim (Quincy) was next up, pitching 1.2 innings while allowing two runs on two hits. <\/span><\/p>\n

The final pitcher for the Rivets was Logan DeWulf (Upper Iowa University), who threw the last two innings. After the seventh, he got into trouble because of a couple defensive errors, which led to eight runs coming across the plate in the eighth inning. <\/span><\/p>\n

Offensively, the Kingfish were clicking on all cylinders piling on 19 runs Monday night. Evan McDonald (Fairleigh Dickinson) had an incredible performance, finishing the night 4-5 which included one single and three homeruns, giving him eight on the season. Two of the round-trippers were solo homeruns, and the last was a bases clearing grandslam. He accounted for nine of the nineteen runs, scoring three times and knocking in six. <\/span><\/p>\n

Another top performer was Marty Bechina (Michigan State), hitting his fifth homerun of the season on his way to a 3-6 night including five RBI\u2019s. Lastly, Scott Dubrule (Jacksonville) reached base five times, the second game in a row where he\u2019s done this. He added three runs and two RBi\u2019s to his 3-4 stat line. <\/span><\/p>\n

After a day off on Tuesday, the Kingfish take on Rockford again at Historic Simmons Field. With Battle Creek also winning, Kenosha hangs on to their 3.5 game lead in the second half of the South Division. The hunt for the playoff continues on Wednesday, August 8th, first pitch at 7:05. <\/span><\/p>\n
