Kenosha, Wis. \u2013 The Kingfish (37-31) stay hot against the Rockford Rivets (27-40), beating them 8-2. With Battle Creek also winning, the magic number is now one for Kenosha with four regular season games left. <\/span><\/p>\n

Tonight, Brent Villasenor (University of Chicago) got his second start of the season, also getting his second win. His outing was one of his best, totalling six complete innings, allowing only one run on three hits, walking none and striking out five. <\/span><\/p>\n

Three relief pitchers came in for Kenosha, all pitching an inning each. First out of the bullpen was Garrett McGraw (Madison College), allowing no runs and no hits. Kevin Napoleon (Butler) followed in the eighth, allowing one walk but striking out the side. The last arm for the Kingfish was Brady Kais (McHenry CC), allowing one unearned run on two hits and striking out two Rivets.<\/span><\/p>\n

On the mound first for the Rivets was Jimmy Burnette (Illinois), getting his seventh start and fifth loss of the summer. In his 4.2 innings he allowed five runs on four hits, walked four and struck out four. Next up was Tanner Propst (Louisiana Tech), pitching the next 1.1 innings, allowing two runs on two hits.<\/span><\/p>\n

The last two pitchers for Rockford was Anthony Dahl (Valdosta State) and Cole Jepsen (Rock Valley College). Both of them went an inning each, with Dahl allowing one run on one hit, and Jepsen allowing one hit but no runs.<\/span><\/p>\n

Once again, the Kingfish offense showed out, putting eight runs on the Rockford, making that 41 in the past three games. On what seems like a nightly basis, Marty Bechina (Michigan State) and Evan McDonald (Fairleigh Dickinson). For Bechina, this is his third straight game with a homerun, and McDonald\u2019s fourth homerun in the past two games.<\/span><\/p>\n

Scott Dubrule (Jacksonville) went 1-4 with a walk, increasing his hitting streak to 11 games. Adding to the homeruns by Bechina and McDonald, Devin Ortiz (Virginia) went deep in the seventh, going 1-3 on the night with one RBI. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Kingfish keep on getting one step closer to a playoff berth, and the next step is travelling to Kalamazoo to take on the Growlers on August 9th and 10th. After this series, they return to Historic Simmons Field for the last regular season home game, where they take on the Rockford Rivets once again, first pitch set for 6:05. <\/span><\/p>\n
