Kenosha, WI – The Kenosha Kingfish fell to the Wisconsin Woodchucks on Wednesday evening at Simmons Field by a final score of 10-3.<\/p>\n
Brandon Seltzer (Palm Beach Atlantic) hit a leadoff double into the right-centerfield gap in the top of the first inning and advanced third on the play after a fielding error. He came around to score on a Lawrence Cicileo (Adelphi) RBI groundout to give the Woodchucks an early 1-0 edge.<\/p>\n
Wisconsin added four runs in the top of the fourth inning \u2013 only one of which were earned \u2013 on two hits, two errors, a walk and a hit by pitch.<\/p>\n
Kenosha got on the board in the bottom fourth inning when Nate Thomas (Saint Joseph\u2019s) drove a ball over the right field fence to cut the home team\u2019s deficit to four. Then, a Charles Middleton (Sierra) double led to a Ryan Knernschield RBI single down the left field line to make the score 5-2.<\/p>\n
Knernschield went 2-for-4 on Wednesday night with an RBI.<\/p>\n
The Woodchucks plated two more runs in the fifth inning on a Kaeber Rog (Florida International) single with the bases loaded to extend their lead to 7-2.<\/p>\n
Brian Vance (Saint Joseph\u2019s) drove in Middleton on a ground rule double in the sixth inning to make the score 7-3.<\/p>\n
Kingfish starter Ben Stephens exited the game with one out in the sixth inning with a final line of three earned runs, six hits, four walks and no strikeouts.<\/p>\n
In the eighth inning, Adam Frank (Fairleigh Dickinson) scored on a wild pitch and Zach Klapak (Pittsburgh) crossed the plate on a Rog sacrifice fly to deep left field to give Wisconsin a six-run edge at 9-3.<\/p>\n
Cicileo hit a double off the right center field fence to plate Frank and give the Woodchucks a 10-3 lead. Cicileo went 2-for-4 on the day with a walk, two runs scored and two RBI.<\/p>\n
Beau Nichols (Lincoln Memorial) finished the game in the ninth to secure the 10-3 victory for Wisconsin.<\/p>\n
Stephens dropped to 0-1 on the season, while Woodchucks starter Nate Madej improved to 1-0.<\/p>\n
