KENOSHA, Wis. \u2013 The Kenosha Kingfish (6-12) came back late to beat the Kokomo Jackrabbits (10-9) on Friday night at Historic Simmons Field by a final score of 5-4.<\/p>\n
The Kingfish scored first for the second straight night in the first inning on a Zach Nogalski (Wisconsin-Milwaukee) sacrifice fly to deep right field. Mike Jarvis (San Diego State) raced home on a two-out error to give the Kingfish an early 2-0 lead.<\/p>\n
Talon File (Eastern Illinois) narrowly beat out potential double play ball in the second inning to score Chase Hacker (Texas-San Antonio) and put Kokomo on the board at 2-1.<\/p>\n
The Jackrabbits tied the game up at two in the fourth inning on a couple of Kingfish errors. Then they capitalized with a Logan Jarvis (Belmont) two-out two-RBI double to take a 4-2 lead.<\/p>\n
Kingfish starting pitcher Gabe Bierman (Indiana) went four innings and allowed one earned run on four hits and two walks. The freshman also struck out six batters in his Kenosha debut.<\/p>\n
David Luethje (Florida) came on in relief of Bierman and worked two scoreless inning and struck out two in his first appearance in a Northwoods League game.<\/p>\n
RJ Pearson (Oral Roberts) scored when Jarvis threw a ball into the stands to draw Kenosha closer. Then Matt Padre (Manhattan) scored on a wild pitch to knot the game up at four. Mitchell Buban (Wisconsin-Milwaukee) nearly gave the Kingfish the lead on a solid ground ball that deflected off of Kokomo reliever Bayden Root\u2019s (Ohio State) glove, but Root recovered to throw out Buban by a half-step.<\/p>\n
Mike Jarvis led off the eighth inning with a single, advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt by Nogalski, went to third on a Charles Middleton (Sierra) fly out and scored on a passed ball to give Kenosha the lead for the second time at 5-4.<\/p>\n
Mike Jarvis scored both times he reached base on Friday.<\/p>\n
Colton Gordon (Hillsborough) stayed on to close out the 5-4 win after coming on and stranded an inherited runner in the eighth inning.<\/p>\n
Gordon was the pitcher of record for the Kingfish, and Root suffered the loss for Kokomo.<\/p>\n
