KENOSHA, Wis. \u2013 The Kenosha Kingfish (13-19) swept the Kokomo Jackrabbits (15-15) on Friday evening at Simmons Field, wrapping up a 6-0 win in a game that was suspended on Thursday night before cruising to a 13-2 victory in game two.<\/p>\n
Ben Stephens (Eastern Illinois) came in when Thursday\u2019s game resumed play and tossed three scoreless innings in relief of Gabe Bierman (Indiana), who delivered five scoreless innings on Thursday night.<\/p>\n
Nate Seprosky (Rhode Island) preserved the 6-0 shutout win with a one-two-three ninth inning.<\/p>\n
Jake Cosgrove (California-Irvine) kicked off the scoring for Kenosha in the second inning with a line drive single over a drawn-in Kokomo infield to score Zach Nogalski (Wisconsin-Milwaukee) and Charles Middleton (Sierra) and give the Kingfish a 2-0 lead.<\/p>\n
Brendan Hueth (Saint Joseph\u2019s) tripled home Mitchell Buban (Wisconsin-Milwaukee) in the third inning. Then Connor Mang (New Mexico) picked up his first RBI of the summer on a base hit that scored Hueth. Nogalski drove in two more runs with a gap-splitting double. Cosgrove knocked in his second run in as many innings with an RBI groundout. Finally, Ethan Owens feathered a single down the right field line to plate Middleton and put Kenosha up 8-0.<\/p>\n
Buban went 4-for-5 with two runs in game two.<\/p>\n
Jackrabbits starter Owen Callaghan\u2019s struggles against Kenosha this season continued. After allowing eight earned runs in two-plus innings on Friday, the Fishers, Ind. native has given up 18 runs (14 earned) in 6 2\/3 innings against the Kingfish. He has allowed just two runs in 13 innings against the rest of the league.<\/p>\n
Owens scored another run in the Kingfish in the sixth inning on a wild pitch to put Kenosha up 9-0.<\/p>\n
Kingfish starting pitcher David Luethje (Florida) blanked the Jackrabbits over six innings, allowing three hits and two walks while punching out three.<\/p>\n
Cosgrove scored Nogalski from first base on a double into the left field corner to extend Kenosha\u2019s lead to 10-0.<\/p>\n
Cosgrove went 2-for-4 and drove in four runs.<\/p>\n
Logan Jarvis (Belmont) broke a 25-inning scoreless streak by the Kokomo offense with an RBI double. He was thrown out trying to stretch the double into a triple. The Jackrabbits got another run on a bases loaded walk to cut the deficit to eight at 10-2.<\/p>\n
Jarvis went 3-for-5 with a pair of two-baggers in the game.<\/p>\n
Mang clubbed a double deep to left-center field for his second RBI of the night. Then Middleton scored two more Kingfish with a double of his own to make the score 13-2.<\/p>\n
Sam Marhefke (Loras) recorded the final four outs of the game to lock up the win.<\/p>\n
Luethje got his first Kingfish win in game two, while Callaghan fell to 1-2 for Kokomo.<\/p>\n
Six Kingfish put together multi-hit efforts in game two.<\/p>\n
