KENOSHA, Wis. \u2013 The Kenosha Kingfish (1-2) lost to the Lakeshore Chinooks (1-2) by a final score of 15-5 at Historic Simmons Field on Friday.<\/p>\n
Lakeshore batted around and scored five in the top of the first inning. Nathan Aide (Saint Joseph\u2019s) put Lakeshore on the board with a two-RBI double. Ronnie Sweeney (Iowa Western) scored Aide with another RBI double. Then a pair of Chinooks scored on wild pitches to go ahead 5-0.<\/p>\n
Kenosha responded in the bottom half of the first with four runs of its own. Mike Jarvis (San Diego State) tripled home Brendan Hueth (Saint Joseph\u2019s). Roberto Pena (Florida) doubled down the right field line to knock in Jarvis. Nate Thomas (Saint Joseph\u2019s) scored on the play after the throw in from right field sailed wide right of the cutoff man. Jake Cosgrove (California-Irvine) plated Pena with the fifth extra base hit of the inning, but Lakeshore threw out Charles Middleton (Pacific), who was trying to score from first, at the plate to end the inning and maintain a 5-4 lead.<\/p>\n
Hueth kept the game within a run in the top of third inning when he threw out Justin Olson (Kentucky) at the plate to end the half inning.<\/p>\n
Mike Trautwin (Northwestern) scored two more Chinooks with a double in the fourth inning. Then Sweeny knocked in another two with his second double of the night. Sweeny raced home on a David Dunn (Northwestern) fielder\u2019s choice. Lakeshore took an 11-4 lead on a bases loaded walk.<\/p>\n
Sweeny went 2-for-5 with four RBI and two runs scored on the night.<\/p>\n
Daryl Myers (Benedictine) scored on a wild pitch in the sixth inning to extend Lakeshore\u2019s lead to 12-4.<\/p>\n
Myers walked five times and scored three runs for the Chinooks. The Lakeshore offense worked 16 free passes on the night.<\/p>\n
The Chinooks added three more runs in the ninth inning on three extra-base hits to take a 15-4 lead.<\/p>\n
Seven of Lakeshore\u2019s 12 hits on Friday night went for extra bases.<\/p>\n
The Kingfish scored a run on a Hueth two-bagger in the ninth, but Tony Grabowske (Stephen F. Austin) closed out the 15-5 win without anymore trouble.<\/p>\n
Hueth was a bright spot for Kenosha on Friday, going 3-for-5 with a run and an RBI.<\/p>\n
Jesse Slinger (Lock Haven) collected his first win of the summer for Lakeshore, while Kaleb Schmidt (Drury) fell to 2-3 for Kenosha.<\/p>\n
