Liebert Goes Long: Kingfish Defeat Kalamazoo 3-1<\/b><\/p>\n

Kalamazoo, Mich<\/b>– The Kenosha Kingfish (2-1) defeated the Kalamazoo Growlers (2-1) 3-1 at Homer Stryker Field on Wednesday, June 2nd.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Following a four RBI night on Tuesday, catcher Kirk Liebert (Kentucky) had the lone RBI\u2019s for Kenosha with a three-run homerun in the third inning that scored Josh Beier (MSOE) and McKay Barney (Washington).<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The Kingfish held a 3-0 lead until the eighth when Luke Storm scored on a David Coppedge single. In the bottom of the ninth with the winning run at the plate and the tying run at second base, Nick Meyer (Otterbein) struck out Stephen Cullen to end the threat and the game.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

On the mound, Kingfish starter Dante Guarascio (Carthage) picked up the win with five innings of shutout ball while striking out eight. Harry Deliyannis (Pomona-Pitzer) came in relief and only gave up one run in 3.2 innings pitched. Meyer (Otterbein) only faced one batter in the save effort.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Kenosha will take on Kalamazoo in the series finale Thursday, June 3 at 11:05 a.m before heading home for a two-game set against Traverse City.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
