Kenosha Gets Swept By Kokomo<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

The Kenosha Kingfish lost 13-9 to the Kokomo Jackrabbits on Sunday night at Historic Simmons Field.<\/span><\/p>\n

Kenosha has now lost three consecutive contests, and Kokomo has lost two runs.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Jackrabbits started the game off with a bang, as Reagan Rivera hit a three-run shot to send RJ Ochoa and Tucker Platt home in the second frame. This made the game 3-0 early. Brady Counsell closed the game and made it 3-2 in the bottom half by belting a two-run homer to score Bobby Atkinson.<\/span><\/p>\n

Kokomo put up a nine-spot in the third frame to blow the game wide open 12-2. Mark Mcnelly started the frame off by belting a no-doubter over the left field wall to send Brayden Carter home. Platt kept the line moving after sending Alejandro Holguin home on a bases-loaded walk. Rivera then plated Gazdar home on a single to center field. Ochoa sprinted home on a wild pitch, and Matt Aribal delivered on an infield single to send Platt home. Carter then hit a flair single to send Rivera running the final 90 feet. Holguin reached base for the second time of the inning, this time via single, to plate Aribal. Gazdar finished the inning with a single to send Carter trotting past the plate.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Kingfish got one run back on a Josh Leslie single that sent Counsell home in the fourth.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Kenosha came storming back in the sixth inning with six more runs to make the game just 12-9. Taylor Darden scored Counsell on a sacrifice fly, and Parker Stinson sent Gage Williams home on an infield single. James McCoy scored Leslie right afterwards with a single of his own. Stinson then came around to score after an RBI groundout by Connor Hincks. Atkinson delivered with a single of his own to score McCoy before Counsell plated Jay Beshears on his fourth hit of the game, a single, to bring the game to within three.<\/span><\/p>\n

Holguin lengthened the Jackrabbits lead to four on a solo shot to right field to make it a 13-9 ball game.<\/span><\/p>\n

Holguin had the best day at the plate after going 2-for-4 with a home run, two RBIs and a pair of runs.<\/span><\/p>\n

Counsell went 4-for-5 with a home run, three RBIs and three runs for the Kingfish.<\/span><\/p>\n

Tyler Horvath (4-1) was the most effective reliever in this one, as he pitched three innings of hitless ball to conclude a game that had 22 hits between the two squads<\/span><\/p>\n

Luke Ellis (2-4) took the loss after allowing eight runs on three hits in just two innings and a third.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Kenosha (8-8) is tied for second place in the Great Lakes East, and Kokomo (4-11) is in last.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Kingfish will hit the road to play Battle Creek at 6:35 p.m. on July 25th to begin a six-game road trip.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
