\n\tThe La Crosse Loggers were able to split a two-game series with the Battle Creek Bombers Friday night with a 6-1 victory from Copeland Park on La Crosse's north side. \n<\/p>\n
\n\tPitching carried the Loggers to victory Friday as Ty Provencher (Long Beach State) made his first start of the year. The righty normally works out of the bullpen, but field manager, Jason Nell, depended on Provencher to take the bump first for the Lumbermen and he didn't disappoint. Provencher faced the minimum into the fourth until Bombers second basemen, Bryan Daniello, singled to right with one out in the fourth. That would be the only hit Provencher gave up. His final line read five innings pitched, one hit, zero runs, with zero walks, and he struck out four. \n<\/p>\n
\n\tThe Loggers offense would strike first in the bottom of the first thanks to a sacrifice fly from second basemen Ryne Birk (Texas A&M) to score center fielder Mike Nadratowski (Grand Valley State). The Loggers would add two more runs in the bottom of the third. Ryan Kirby (San Diego) hit an RBI fielder's choice, and Jerrod Bravo (Sacramento City CC) would hit a sacrifice fly to give the Loggers a 3-0 lead. \n<\/p>\n
\n\tBravo would add another RBI on a double in the sixth inning, and Birk would hit an RBI single three batters later to give the Loggers a 6-1 lead.\n<\/p>\n
\n\tFirst basemen and reliever, Marc Frazier (Nicholls State), would come in to relieve Provencher and pitch the final four innings to get the unconventional save for La Crosse.\n<\/p>\n
