\n\tThe La Crosse Loggers were swept by the first place Lakeshore Chinooks this weekend at Copeland Park. The Loggers lost the finale Sunday evening by a score of 5-1. La Crosse has now lost ten of their last twelve games and 8.5 games back in the Northwoods League South Divison. \n<\/p>\n
\n\tThe Chinooks struck first Sunday evening in the top of the second when Kyle Wood (Purdue) doubled home Brant Valach (Eastern Illinois). Zack Bowers (Georgia) would later score in the inning on a Ryan Krill (Michigan State) sacrifice fly. Lakeshore would tack another run on in the top of the fourth when Connor McKay (Kansas) would single home Valach. Jake Noll (Florida Gulf Coast) would also hit a solo HR for the Chinooks and they had a 4-0 lead.\n<\/p>\n
\n\tLoggers starter, Ty Provencher (Long Beach State), allowed all four of the runs in six innings, on six hits but did have nine strikeouts.\n<\/p>\n
\n\tThe Loggers got their lone run of the game on a sixth inning Luke Persico (UCLA) fielder's choice to score Kevin Zak (Grand Valley State) but it wasn't enough as Lakeshore would regain their four run lead as they added another run in the ninth.\n<\/p>\n
\n\tAllthough the Loggers are 8.5 GB of that second half South Division crown, the more important race to keep an eye on, perhaps, is who will finish with the second best overall record in the South Division. With about two and half weeks left of baseball, the Chinooks have a 4 game lead on the South Division in the second half. Now if the Chinooks were to win both the 1st half and 2nd half of the South Division, the team with the next best overall record in the South would be rewarded the second playoff spot in the division. Currently, La Crosse is just two games back in the hunt for second best record.\n<\/p>\n
\n\tThe Loggers will have three days off for the All-Star break before they open up the second half of the season in Green Bay to kick off a two-game series with the Bullfrogs. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
