{"id":33859,"date":"2023-10-17T16:39:13","date_gmt":"2023-10-17T16:39:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/northwoodsleague.com\/softball-team-1\/?p=33859"},"modified":"2023-10-17T16:39:13","modified_gmt":"2023-10-17T16:39:13","slug":"making-her-story-womens-summer-collegiate-softball-coming-to-copeland-park-in-2024","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/northwoodsleague.com\/la-crosse-steam\/2023\/10\/17\/making-her-story-womens-summer-collegiate-softball-coming-to-copeland-park-in-2024\/","title":{"rendered":"\u201cMaking Her-story\u201d:  Women\u2019s Summer Collegiate Softball Coming to Copeland Park in 2024"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"font-weight: 400;text-align: center\"><strong><u>\u201cMaking Her-story\u201d:\u00a0 Women\u2019s Summer Collegiate Softball Coming to Copeland Park in 2024<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;text-align: center\"><strong><em>La Crosse to Be Part of Inaugural Season<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\"><strong>LA CROSSE, WIS. \u2013\u00a0<\/strong>A new brand is coming to the Northwoods in 2024 and La Crosse, Wisc. will be a part of history when Copeland Park helps usher in the first Women\u2019s Summer Collegiate Softball League.\u00a0 La Crosse owner Dan Kapanke announced at a press conference at Copeland Park today that La Crosse will be an inaugural participant in the Northwoods Women\u2019s Summer Collegiate Softball League beginning play in 2024.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">&#8220;I believe this announcement is one of the most significant developments in women&#8217;s collegiate athletics in a long time,\u201d exclaimed La Crosse owner Dan Kapanke.\u00a0 \u201cWe are excited to be on the cutting edge of something that is going to be very special.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">Leveraging the 30-year success of the Northwoods League, the first for-profit Summer Collegiate Baseball League, Northwoods League Softball (NWLS) will be the first for-profit Women\u2019s Summer Collegiate Softball League.\u00a0 The purpose of the League will be to develop players for their college, Olympic and future professional play.\u00a0 Teams will be promoted similar to minor league baseball teams, playing games in front of fans in a fun, friendly, family-oriented environment.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">Northwoods League Softball president Kathryn Reynolds is excited about La Crosse leading the way.\u00a0\u00a0\u201cWe\u2019re thrilled for La Crosse to be announced as the first Northwoods League Softball location. Dan Kapanke and his team have been a driving force behind the formation of Northwoods League Softball.
