Grafton, WI – The Lakeshore Chinooks recently had their 8th alumni make it to “the show” after alumni Alex Young was called up by the Arizona Diamondbacks. The 25 year old has absolutely excelled in his first three weeks with the D-Backs.<\/p>\n

The Hawthorn Woods, Illinois native attended TCU before heading to Lakeshore in the summer of 2013. Alex Young would only appear in four games for the Chinooks in early June, three of which were starts. He ended his short run with the team with a 2.32 ERA, striking out 21 to just 9 walks in 19 innings of work.<\/p>\n

He would be drafted by the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2015 in the second round. During his first season in the minors, Young would see action with the D-Backs rookie ball and Single-A team. He would also spend 2016 at the Single-A level. Alex would get promoted to Arizona’s Double-A squad for all of 2017 and part of 2018 before being promoted once more to Triple-A Reno.<\/p>\n

On June 27th, Young’s hardwork in the minors paid off as he was called up by the Diamondbacks. Since the call up, he has been nearly perfect on the mound. He would pick up the win in his debut outing after going 5 innings giving up just one run. His next appearance would see him fill in for two innings of relief after starter Taylor Clarke had issues getting out of the third inning. Alex would pitch 2.1 innings of scoreless baseball.<\/p>\n

Young would pick up another win on July 7th against the Rockies after once again not giving up any runs over the course of six innings. Last night, he claim his third win of the season after only giving up one run against the Rangers.<\/p>\n

The Chinooks wish Alex Young the best of luck during his first stint in the MLB.<\/p>\n
