Mequon, Wis. — Ohio State\u2019s Nate Haberthier threw five innings of shutout baseball which drew excitement from a small Lakeshore crowd that saw just the opposite one night prior.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The sophomore faced 22 batters on four hits and a pair of strikeouts. Out of the 71 pitches thrown, 63% of them were called strikes.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

But, all good things eventually come to a close, and unfortunately, it was in the top of the seventh inning for the Chinooks. Cade Berendt jogged in from the Lakeshore bullpen replacing Brody Ware who had seen better nights from the bump allowing a trio of earned runs and walks.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Overland Park, Kansas, native Brendan Ryan singled to center field, followed by two consecutive walks that loaded the bases for the Booyah.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Moments later, another walk transpired but this time scoring one run. An infield error suddenly put the whipped cream on top for Green Bay as they garnered a three-run seventh spot, and switched the momentum to their side for the remainder of the game.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Amid five scoreless innings thrown, Lakeshore commanded control with two runs coming in both the third and fourth. A two-out Collin Mathews double paid dividends as right-fielder Jackson Gray brought his outfield partner home on a shallow single to right.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201c[I\u2019m] just trying to get a pitch to hit and hit it hard,\u201d Gray explained when asked about his approach.<\/span><\/p>\n

With no outs in the subsequent inning, Arizona State\u2019s Kai Murphy delivered with a sac fly to deep right field allowing Stephen Hrustich to score from third base. And just like that, it was 2-0 through four.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

As mentioned previously, the boys from Green Bay did not fold. Three runs in the first half of the seventh inning propelled them ahead with a one-run advantage.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

An additional run was added to their total in the ninth after a Jacob Henderson pitch got away and was unable to be corralled by Josh Glenn who sat behind the dish.<\/span><\/p>\n

Heading into the final three outs, it did not look promising, although Lakeshore did in fact earn a run back. Second baseman Paul Toetz reached first on a walk with one out. Then, Toetz moved all the way over to third on an E5 that landed Mathews on first.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

With two runners in scoring position, Gray registered his second RBI of the evening on a ground out. Sadly, with just one more run to gather and one out to spare, the Chinooks fell short losing 4-3, dropping both games of the series to the Booyah.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThat one inning got us, hopefully, we will bounce back,\u201d Gray said.<\/span><\/p>\n

Four more home games are still to come as Lakeshore (0-2) looks to round out a six-game homestand on a high note. Thursday\u2019s promotion against the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters is \u201cLadies of Summer Night.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWe got to put more runs up definitely. You know it\u2019s lady\u2019s night tomorrow so we got to put some runs up for the ladies,\u201d said Gray with a smile.<\/span><\/p>\n

The first pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
