L<\/span>akeshore Chinooks Reeling in Host Families for Players<\/span><\/b><\/span><\/h2>\n

Grafton, WI, February 24, 2012 — The Lakeshore Chinooks, the area’s new baseball team is seeking help from the community. This summer, 30 college baseball players from around the country will move to our area to play on the inaugural Chinooks team. These players will live with host families during the season from late May to mid-August. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The Host Family Program is an important part of the Chinooks success. These players are moving to a new city for the summer, and host families make them feel at home. Host families provide a room for the player, breakfast and lunch when the team is in town, and sometimes transportation to and from the ballpark. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

“Host families help us take care of these players. The families help our players feel like they are at home,” says Chad Bauer, Lakeshore Chinooks Assistant General Manager. “The players become role models, and the host families’ children really look up to the players.”<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The Lakeshore Chinooks is the newest team to join the Northwoods League, a summer league for college players. The Chinooks will play 70 games this summer; 35 home games at the new Kapco Park<\/span> <\/span>on the campus of Concordia University<\/span>.  <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The Northwoods League has more teams, plays more games, and draws more fans than any other Summer Collegiate Baseball League in North America. Fifty former Northwoods League players played in the Major Leagues in 2011. The league has 16 teams in Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, Michigan, and Ontario. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The Host Family Program benefits the families as well as the players. <\/span>The players often become more than just a guest; they become a part of the family. And you never know; you may just be getting to know a future pro! Become a host family, and GET HOOKED!<\/b><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
