Mequon, Wis \u2013 And just like that, we have a winning streak. The Chinooks faced off against the Doc Spiders in their second game of the series, winning 5-4 and securing the sweep against a tough Fond Du Lac team.<\/p>\n
Tommy Lamb (W, 1-0) got off to a fantastic start, retiring the first six hitters he faced.<\/p>\n
\u201cI just wanted to compete, and I know I have a good defense behind me. I was trying to make some pitches and put it in the zone so my defense could help me out\u201d Lamb said about his performance tonight.<\/p>\n
The Chinooks came close to securing an early lead in the bottom of the 1st<\/sup> when Michael Seegers reached on an errant throw to first base. Matthew Deprey walked and Lakeshore had men on first and third before a groundout ended the inning.<\/p>\n Lakeshore, however, went on to have a big 3rd<\/sup> inning. Peyton Sanderson started things off with an infield single to get on first. Caden Kaiser would draw a 1-out walk, bringing up Matthew Deprey with men on first and second base. Deprey almost secured an extra bases hit to deep center, but Evan Stone of the Doc Spiders made a diving catch to avoid the big play. Sanderson would advance on a tag up moving to third. Jack Firestone then hit a 2 RBI double to get the Chinooks on the board. Caleb Bartolero padded the lead with an RBI double to put the Chinooks up 3-0 heading into the 4th<\/sup>.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m trying to bring some energy, and I\u2019m trying to have some fun. I came here to get better and have fun, so hopefully everyone is enjoying my presence helping the team win\u201d Bartolero said after the game.<\/p>\n Bartolero has made an immediate impact since joining the team a few days ago. He is now batting .444 with a HR and 3 RBI in two games with the Chinooks.<\/p>\n \u201cI try to keep it simple. Sometimes I take some big hacks but that\u2019s just who I am\u201d Bartolero said. \u201cI\u2019ve got to keep it rolling and mostly just remain consistent.\u201d<\/p>\n Lamb gave up a leadoff single in the top of the 4th <\/sup>but responded with back-to-back strikeouts and a ground ball to first to end the half inning.<\/p>\n After Lamb went another scoreless inning, Lakeshore would tack on two more runs to extend their lead. After a Josh Johnson walk and Aiden Longwell single, Michael Seegers drew the walk to load the bases with one out. Caden Kaiser followed with an RBI single on a fielders choice and Matthew Deprey hit an RBI single to bring in another run. Lakeshore finished the 5th<\/sup> inning leading Fond Du Lac 5-0.<\/p>\n The Chinooks would run into some trouble in the top of the 6th<\/sup> inning. Lamb gave up a leadoff triple to Fond Du Lac\u2019s Evan Stone, with Nick Mitchell driving in the Doc Spiders first run on an RBI groundout. Tommy Stevenson then hit a solo home run to chip away at Lakeshore\u2019s lead. Tommy Lamb finished the game going 6 innings giving up 2 earned runs and striking out 4, setting himself up for the win with Lakeshore leading 5-2.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m just going to help out however I can, and keep preparing, doing my routines, and hopefully my next start goes just as well\u201d Lamb said when asked about being involved in between starts.<\/p>\n Lakeshore saw their lead dwindle in the top of the 7th<\/sup> as they walked four consecutive batters and let an RBI groundout by Fond Du Lac\u2019s Nick Mitchell bring the game within one run. Jackson Reed of the Chinooks came in and finished the inning strong to preserve the narrow lead.<\/p>\n Nick Rector (SV, 1) earned his first save on the year after pitching a scoreless 9th<\/sup> inning to secure the victory for Lakeshore.<\/p>\n The Chinooks have now won two straight games and are moving up in the Great Lakes West standings. They will look to extend their streak as they face the Green Bay Rockers tomorrow at Moonlight Graham Field.
