Pitching ruled again in the Chinooks 2-3 loss against the La Crosse Loggers Tuesday night.  <\/span>Coming into tonight’s game the Chinooks and Loggers were tied at the top of the South Division standings with the Loggers owning sole possession of the lead after tonight’s games.<\/p>\n

Starting pitcher Nick Soldano<\/b> (North Park)<\/i> pitched a gem for the Chinooks, allowing 2 runs on 2 hits, with 3 walks and 2 strike outs.  <\/span>His counterpart Jesse Holiday gave up 8 hits to the Chinooks, but all were singles that couldn’t muster up more run support.  <\/span>“We need to be more efficient and get more production out of those hits and that’s the concern.  <\/span>The bright side is that we are putting barrels on the ball, we are getting some hits, we need to just start putting them together and being a little bit more productive,” said head coach John Vodenlich<\/b>.<\/p>\n

The scoring started early as Scott Wilcox<\/b> (Western Kentucky) <\/i>scored in the first inning on a fly ball to center field by Designated Hitter Bre’ Kimbell<\/b> (Louisiana Tech)<\/i>.<\/p>\n

The Loggers evened the score in the top of the next inning on a single by Steven Pallares which scored Tyler Servais.  <\/span><\/p>\n

Not to be outdone, the Chinooks followed with a 1 run second inning.  <\/span>Left fielder Ryan Ussery<\/b> (UAB) <\/i>singled to start the inning, then stole second and advanced to third on a throwing error by Servais.  <\/span>After a pop-out by Zack Granite<\/b> (Seton Hall) <\/i>for out number one, catcher Connor Lynch<\/b> (Georgia Tech)<\/i> scored Ussery on a single to center field to put the Chinooks on top 2-1.<\/p>\n

In the fifth, Austin Bailey walked to start the inning and advanced to third on an overthrown pick-off attempt.  <\/span>Bailey reached home on a sac fly by Steven Pallares to tie the game 2-2.<\/p>\n

Cody Glenn<\/b> (LSU)<\/i> came in to finish out the game for the Chinooks and pitched a shutout seventh inning before giving up a double that slid under the fence, into the bullpen.  <\/span>Brandon Defazio scored on the play while Brandon Bednar was called back to third after the obstruction ruling.  <\/span>A routine ground ball ended the inning, limiting further damage, but was enough to earn Glenn the loss.<\/p>\n

Dan Sayles recorded the win for the Loggers while Jacob Dorris saved the game, pitching a clean ninth inning.<\/p>\n

Tomorrow’s home stand continues at Kapco Park, this time against the Green Bay Bullfrogs.  <\/span>First pitch is scheduled for 6:35pm.  <\/span>Fans attending tomorrow’s game will receive a free commemorative Chinooks drawstring backpack.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
