Carson Beauchaine<\/b> (SVSU) owned the mound Wednesday night as the Chinooks battled the Green Bay Bullfrogs for the third time this season. The Chinooks opened their inaugural season in Green Bay with a successful 2-0 series at the end of May.<\/p>\n
Wednesday’s game was familiar to the Chinooks in that pitching and defense proved crucial. Beauchaine<\/b> pitched a strong 6 innings with 4 H, 0 R, 4 BB, and 8 K’s. The Bullfrogs Bryce Bellin performed well on the mound, but was given no offensive support as he worked 5 1\/3 innings with 7 H, 1 R, 3 BB, and 4 K’s. <\/span>In both of Bellin’s starts this season, he has received no run support from his offense.<\/p>\n The first scare for the Chinooks came in the top of the 4th<\/sup> inning when Green Bay’s Alex Abrams was called out at home after an incredible throw by Bre Kimbell <\/b>(Louisiana Tech) from right field to end the inning with no runs on the board.<\/p>\n “Honestly, I definitely should have caught that ball. It came in off a right handed stick and I thought it had a little tail on it. It ended sticking in there a little longer and then I guess I played it right, kind of played it back. I was pretty good throwing the ball and luckily it went right to the catcher. I’ll call that being a little lucky,” said Kimbell <\/b>referring to his stunning throw-out at home.<\/p>\n The first and only run of the game came in the bottom of the 4th<\/sup> inning when Mat Harjung<\/b> (Missouri Baptist) hit a RBI single to score Ty Young<\/b> (Louisville) who reached home after a double and a Ryan Ussery<\/b> (UAB) sac bunt.<\/p>\n The Chinooks’ offense put an end to their current trend of hitting singles with two extra-base hits by Kimbell <\/b>and Harjung <\/b>to spark the offense. They ended the game with 8 hits and loaded the bases twice in the 6th<\/sup> and 7th<\/sup> innings, but could not capitalize.<\/p>\n Beauchaine<\/b> earned the W tonight, while Bellin received his 2nd<\/sup> loss of the season with 1 run given up and no run-support from his own team.<\/p>\n The series continues tomorrow at 6:35p.m. as the Chinooks look to regain control of first place in the Northwoods League South Division.
