A mere fourteen hours after completing a shutout over Battle Creek, the Chinooks rolled right along with a 4-0 victory over the Bombers Wednesday.<\/p>\n
As is often the case in a day game after a night game, both offenses took a while to wake up. <\/span>Chinooks starter Ryan Harris<\/strong> (Florida)<\/em> took advantage. <\/span>The right-hander climbed the hill and pounded the strike zone all afternoon. <\/span>A pair of singles in the first and fourth would be the only two hits collected by the Bombers through the first six innings. <\/span><\/p>\n Of the 98 pitches thrown by Harris<\/strong> in 8 1\/3 innings, 70 found the strike zone. <\/span>The lone walk of the contest came in the eighth, a five pitch free pass to Dylan Delaney with one out.<\/p>\n The first threat against Harris<\/strong> came in the seventh when Daniel Rocket led off the inning with a single. Rocket, considered to be among the top base stealers in the Northwoods League, decided to try and get something going with a steal attempt. <\/span>Catcher Michael Jurgella<\/strong> (St. Cloud State)<\/em> would have none of it as he fired a seed to shortstop Brian Anderson<\/strong> (Arkansas)<\/em> covering the bag at second for the out. <\/span><\/p>\n Offensively the Chinooks were held without a hit until the fourth when Anderson<\/strong> squeaked out a hit back up the middle to lead off the inning. <\/span>The run column stayed dark until the fifth. <\/span>A two-out walk to Ty Kamps<\/strong> (UW-Oshkosh)<\/em> set the table for none other than Forrest Chadwic<\/strong>k<\/strong> (Southern Maine)<\/em>. <\/span>He took the first pitch from Kyle Teague all the way to the wall, allowing Kamps<\/strong> to score the first run of the ballgame.<\/p>\n Teague exited the game after six strong innings and it was now time for the Chinooks to try their luck with reliever Ethan Bramschreiber. <\/span>An error, passed ball, and a single by Drew Pearson<\/strong> (UWM)<\/em> put runners on the corners with one out. <\/span>Kamps<\/strong> worked a walk to load the bases.<\/p>\n With ten RBI in his last five ballgames, Chadwick<\/strong> was the perfect man to have at the plate in another big situation. <\/span>Knowing his recent track record the Bombers pitched him extra carefully. <\/span>In fact a bit too carefully, as Forrest<\/strong> worked another walk to force home a second run.<\/p>\n With the Bombers on the ropes, Anderson<\/strong> looked to break it open. <\/span>He hit a line drive down to third that was speared for the out. <\/span>Battle Creek was also able to catch Pearson<\/strong> drifting too far off the second base bag for the inning ending double play.<\/p>\n The Chinooks added another run in the eighth on an RBI double by German Reyes<\/strong> (Winston Salem State)<\/em> scoring Ryan Krill <\/strong>(Michigan State).<\/em> Reyes<\/strong> would eventually score from third on a wild pitch, pushing the lead to 4-0.<\/p>\n Harris<\/strong> was only expected to throw about 75 pitches in his second start of the season, but he threw the ball so well that he was allowed to try for the complete game in the ninth. <\/span>A pair of singles and a wild pitch spelled the end of the night for Harris<\/strong>.<\/p>\n Tyler Sparger<\/strong> (Indian Hills CC)<\/em> was summoned to record the final two outs of the afternoon. <\/span>For the second time in the game Daniel Rocket was thrown out by Jurgella<\/strong> <\/span>for out number two. <\/span>A ground out to second sealed the 4-0 win for Lakeshore. <\/span>The victory marked the fifth straight time the Chinooks recorded a win, surpassing the old franchise mark set back on June 7-10.<\/p>\n Lakeshore returns home tomorrow for a 6:35 first pitch against the division leading Wisconsin Woodchucks. <\/span>The Chinooks find themselves 6 ½ games out of first (pending play tonight) with just eleven games to play.<\/p>\n Remember that tomorrow night is also Tomaso’s Mequon Pizza Cutter giveaway to the first 500 fans through the gates at Kapco Park.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" A mere fourteen hours after completing a shutout over Battle Creek, the Chinooks rolled right along with a 4-0 victory […]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_monsterinsights_skip_tracking":false,"_monsterinsights_sitenote_active":false,"_monsterinsights_sitenote_note":"","_monsterinsights_sitenote_category":0,"footnotes":""},"categories":[32],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-1335","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-archives-news"],"yoast_head":"\n
