{"id":1431,"date":"2013-08-02T13:02:00","date_gmt":"2013-08-02T13:02:00","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"-0001-11-30T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"-0001-11-30T05:00:00","slug":"brightfutureforchinooks","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/northwoodsleague.com\/lakeshore-chinooks\/2013\/08\/02\/brightfutureforchinooks\/","title":{"rendered":"Bright Future for Chinooks"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"MsoNormal\">The five representatives from the Lakeshore Chinooks in the 19<sup>th<\/sup> All-Star game in Eau Claire made their mark. Although the South Division was defeated 7-5, a strong game was played by all continuing to prove why the Northwoods League is one of the best collegiate leagues around. <b style=\"mso-bidi-font-weight:normal\">Ryan Krill<\/b> (MSU) forced three walks and score once. <b style=\"mso-bidi-font-weight:normal\">Sawyer Polen<\/b> (Kent State) played the whole game and scored a run in a big inning for the South. <b style=\"mso-bidi-font-weight:normal\">Mike Hollenbeck<\/b> (Illinois State) went 2-2 at the plate and smacked an RBI single to bring home another run. <b style=\"mso-bidi-font-weight:normal\">Tyler Thicke<\/b> (UW-Milwaukee) threw an inning along with <b style=\"mso-bidi-font-weight:normal\">Kyle Bouman <\/b>(St. Louis) who threw two innings. The Chinooks continue to sit at the top of the South Division in the second half at 17-6. Thicke stated, &ldquo;It was a great experience. We may not have won, but knowing I am able to call myself an all-star is a great accomplishment for me.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">On Monday, July 29<sup>th<\/sup> the Madison Mallards hosted the first Big League Dreams Showcase. This showcase featured a day of workouts followed by a double-header. Similar to an all-star game, the best players in the Northwoods League were selected by MLB Scouts including <b style=\"mso-bidi-font-weight:normal\">Andrew Stevenson<\/b> (LSU), <b style=\"mso-bidi-font-weight:normal\">Mike Papi<\/b> (Virginia), <b style=\"mso-bidi-font-weight:normal\">Donnie Hissa<\/b> (Notre Dame) and <b style=\"mso-bidi-font-weight:normal\">Mitchell Sewald<\/b> (LSU) that represented the Chinooks. After the South won the first game 9-4, the Chinooks players competed in the second game. The South team fell behind early 7-1 but made a late comeback that fell just short falling 7-6. <b style=\"mso-bidi-font-weight:normal\">Andrew Stevenson<\/b> had two hits a walk and an RBI. <b style=\"mso-bidi-font-weight:\nnormal\">Mike Papi <\/b>recorded a double, two walks and an RBI. <b style=\"mso-bidi-font-weight:normal\">Donnie Hissa<\/b> pitched one no-hit inning. <b style=\"mso-bidi-font-weight:normal\">Mitchell Sewald<\/b> pitched the 3<sup>rd<\/sup> inning allowing two hits and recording 1 strikeout.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">The Chinooks continue to sit on top in the South Division with the season coming to a close. The Lakeshore Chinooks are currently on their final home stand of the season with their final regular season home game being Saturday, August 3<sup>rd<\/sup>.
