And it was painfully apparent. The \u2018Nooks were shutout in the 9-0 defeat.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cIt wasn\u2019t a pretty night,\u201d starting pitcher Nate Gray put it after the game.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Manager Mikel Moreno didn\u2019t think Green Bay starter Caden Crask-Weeks threw well enough to throw the Chinooks hitters off balance. His problem was the lack of traffic the \u2018Nooks created on the bases.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cI have no idea,\u201d he said when asked why Lakeshore could only get seven guys on base in a nine-inning game. Green Bay had more hits (8) than Chinooks had base runners.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The first time through the batting order, only Kyle Micklus reached first base safely on a walk for Lakeshore. It took 12 Chinook batters before Brody Rasmussen finally got the visitors in the hit column.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u2018Nooks could only muster five base knocks in the game. Only three players got into the hit column\u2014 Rasmussen twice, Micklus, Collin Senior and Jacob Kowes.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">For as silent a night it was offensively for the \u2018Nooks, they were forced to change their pitching plans when the normally steady Gray lasted just two innings.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Gray struggled to put the 13 hitters he faced away. He struck out just one and walked five, giving up two earned runs.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cHe wasn\u2019t competitive,\u201d Moreno said. \u201cThat doesn\u2019t work at any level.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Gray was equally as frustrated.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cI didn\u2019t have it today\u2026it sucks.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Bobby Perebzak came in to relieve Gray and was sharp for the most part. But after allowing a single and a walk, he served Green Bay\u2019s Eric Jeon a chance to blow the game wide open.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Jeon did just that with a towering three-run home run to left field.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Moreno was unperturbed when asked about the big hit which blew the game open.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cWe weren\u2019t throwing strikes anyways\u2026one run would\u2019ve won the game for them.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The Chinooks remain bottom of the Great Lakes West after their 14th loss of the season. They have a quick reset before game two of the series against the Rockers tomorrow at 6:35 CT.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">As much as the loss stings, Gray doesn\u2019t want to dwell on the negatives for too long.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cGames like this are going to happen,\u201d he said. \u201cYou gotta enjoy the victories as
