Lakeshore&rsquo;s twentieth victory gave them sole possession of first place in the NWL South Division.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tThird-year Chinooks first baseman <strong>Ryan Krill <\/strong>(Michigan State) went 1-3 and drove in three runs.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tAfter two quick outs in the first, <strong>Brant Valach <\/strong>(Eastern Illinois) advanced to first on an error by third baseman Jared Foster. <strong>Michael Morman <\/strong>(Valparaiso) hit a single off Bombers starter Andrew Mitchell. Both Valach and Morman scored on a Krill bloop single to left field.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tLefty Joe Mockbee relieved Mitchell in the second. He gave up consecutive singles to <strong>Jake Noll <\/strong>(Florida Gulf Coast) and Valach in the third. Noll scored on an RBI sacrifice fly by Morman. Lakeshore led the Bombers 3-0.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tBattle Creek scored one run in the fifth. First baseman Brandon Van Horn walked to lead off the inning. Chinooks starter <strong>Mike Letkewicz<\/strong> (Augustana College) gave up a single to David Richards IV.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tThe righty Letkewicz was then relieved by <strong>Luke Lowery <\/strong>(Southern Miss). Pinch-hitter Laz Rivera reached on a fielder&rsquo;s choice. Van Horn advanced to third on an error by Lowery and scored on a Jared Foster putout.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tThe Bombers put one more run on the board in the sixth. Catcher Henri Latrigue hit a single off Lowery. He scored on a single by the first baseman Van Horn.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tDesignated-hitter <strong>Connor McKay <\/strong>(Kansas) hit a triple off Mockbee in the sixth and scored on a sacrifice fly by Krill. The Chinooks also scored in the seventh. Blake Butler got a basehit off Bombers pitcher Jordan Grossjean. Valach drew a walk. Butler and Valach came across on a 2-run double by <strong>Kyle Wood <\/strong>(Purdue).\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tLowery (2-0) picked up the win. <strong>Chase Radan <\/strong>(UCLA) gave up one run in two innings. Chinooks closer <strong>Andrew Elliott <\/strong>(Wright State) tossed a scoreless ninth. He earned his sixth save of the summer.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tMitchell (1-3) pitched one inning and suffered his third loss.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tThe Eau Claire Express will play the Chinooks in Mequon on Thursday (6:35 p.m.) and Friday (7:05 p.m.). The team will travel to Madison on Saturday, June 27, before returning to Kapco Park to face the Mallards again on Sunday. They will also play the Kenosha Kingfish in a split-location doubleheader Monday, June 30.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<em>The Lakeshore Chinooks are a member of the finest developmental league for elite college baseball players, the Northwoods League. Playing its 21st season of summer collegiate baseball, the Northwoods League is the largest organized baseball league in the world with 18 teams, drawing significantly more fans, in a friendly ballpark experience, than any league of its kind.
