{"id":2122,"date":"2014-07-13T06:21:11","date_gmt":"2014-07-13T06:21:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/northwoodsleague.com\/lakeshore-chinooks\/?p=2122"},"modified":"2014-07-13T06:21:11","modified_gmt":"2014-07-13T06:21:11","slug":"ninth-consecutive-win-marks-record","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/northwoodsleague.com\/lakeshore-chinooks\/2014\/07\/13\/ninth-consecutive-win-marks-record\/","title":{"rendered":"Ninth Consecutive Win Marks Record"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n\tOn Saturday, the Lakeshore Chinooks won a franchise-record ninth game in a row.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tBehind the bats of <strong>Michael Morman <\/strong>(Richmond) and <strong>Luke Meeteer <\/strong>(UW-Milwaukee), the Chinooks took game one against the Bullfrogs, 6-5.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tMorman went 2-4 with an RBI and scored a run. Meeteer was 1-4, scored a run and drove in two runs as well.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tThird baseman Ryan Koziol led off the second with a single. The Bullfrogs took a 1-0 lead on a base hit by Paul Jacobson.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tLakeshore gained the lead in the fourth. With one out, <strong>Brant Valach <\/strong>(Eastern Illinois) and <strong>Zack Bowers <\/strong>(Georgia) drew consecutive walks. The third baseman Valach scored on a Morman single. Bowers scored on a wild pitch by Bullfrogs starter Garrett Harrison.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tThe Bullfrogs responded in the bottom of the inning. Ryan Howell began the inning with a double off <strong>Joe Pavlovich <\/strong>(UW-Oshkosh). Dean Long advanced on a walk. Howell and Long scored on a two-RBI single by Jacobson.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<strong>Sawyer Polen <\/strong>(Kent State) led off the fifth with a single. He advanced to second on a passed ball and to third on a Blake Butler putout. <strong>Mitch Ghelfi <\/strong>(UW-Milwaukee) drove Polen in with a double off Harrison.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tIn the seventh, Green Bay scored two runs and took the lead, 5-3. Designated-hitter Brian Celsi hit a single with one out. Matthew de la Rosa then hit a double off Chinooks reliever <strong>Hunter Devall <\/strong>(LSU). Celsi scored on a putout. Ryan Koziol also had an RBI single.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tThe Chinooks gained a 6-5 advantage in the eighth. Michael Morman hit another single off right-hander Cody Pollack. <strong>Connor McKay <\/strong>(Kansas) drew his second walk of the game. The center fielder Meeteer hit a two-RBI triple that tied the game. Meeteer also scored on a squeeze bunt by Sawyer Polen.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tPavlovich went four innings. He gave up three runs off six hits and struck out one.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tThe left-hander Devall (1-0) got his first win. In three innings, he surrendered two runs off four hits. He also had two strikeouts.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tFellow lefty <strong>Jake Tuttle <\/strong>(UW-Milwaukee) picked up a save in two scoreless innings. In the ninth, he issued three walks, which loaded the bases with one out. He got two pivotal flyouts to end the inning.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tPollack (0-1) took the loss for the Bullfrogs. In one and one-third innings, he gave up three runs off two hits and walked one.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tThe team will face Green Bay again tomorrow, Sunday, July 13. First pitch is scheduled for 5:05 p.m. They have the day off on Monday, July 14, before starting a four-game home stand. Lakeshore will take on the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters and Green Bay Bullfrogs.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<em>The Lakeshore Chinooks are a member of the finest developmental league for elite college baseball players, the Northwoods League.
